Anera is a development assistance and humanitarian aid organization that has been working in the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem since 1968. Anera focuses on agriculture, rural development, water and sanitation, job creation, health, and education. Anera is announcing a vacancy for a Procurement Director for an anticipated five-year USAID-funded Gaza Health Recovery Activity (GHRA) Program. The position is full-time, based in Ramallah, and requires travel to the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem.

Project Description:

The Gaza Health Recovery Activity (GHRA) is a 5-year USAID project aimed at addressing the critical healthcare needs resulting from the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The primary objective of the project is to restore and enhance essential health services in the region amidst significant disruptions. This encompasses various health sectors, including basic and emergency curative health services, primary healthcare (such as obstetric services, mother and child health, communicable disease control, immunizations, supplementary feeding programs, and management of non-communicable and chronic diseases), secondary healthcare, treatment of physical trauma and tertiary care, mental health services, psycho-social support, and rehabilitation.

Job Requirements

Job Responsibilities for PR/Communications Manager:

  • Oversee and supervise the Communications/Public Relations Department, providing mentoring, direction, and guidance on daily activities.
  • Develop effective systems for monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on project activities to USAID.
  • Be responsible to develop, manage and lead public relations and communications outreach efforts to enhance Program visibility and media coverage ensuring compliance with the Program’s Branding and Marking Plan.
  • Work with relevant HQ departments such as Communications, etc. to ensure adherence/compliance with Anera standards.
  • Prepare and oversee presentations, reports, newsletters and other publications to highlight Program achievements while maintaining up-to-date information, factsheets, and statistics.
  • Supervise the process of producing and distributing press materials, success stories, brochures, public awareness materials, etc., as well as quality assurance of printed and audiovisual materials.
  • Oversee preparations and coordination of media and public events.
  • Advice project partners in planning for and management of media related events.
  • Draft press releases, success stories, reports and other Program communication materials in Arabic and English.
  • Take the lead in designing and implementing communications campaigns to support specific project components and/or partner agency programs.
  • Select appropriate event speech quotes to insert into press releases.
  • Oversee and arrange for visits project sites to conduct interviews and discussions to incorporate into communications materials.
  • Keep record of photographs and videos
  • Design success story layouts, banners, roll-ups, etc., using InDesign.
  • Maintain contact with media and communications offices and disseminate Program information.
  • Monitor and report on media coverage. Update media contacts database.
  • Assist in regularly developing audio-visual materials for the Program.
  • Work with the Chief of Party and GHRA team to draft and distribute event scene setters for Anera, the donor, and stakeholders.
  • Work with various departments to gather information and statistics on program achievements.
  • Draft and distribute invitations to media and partners as necessary.
  • Responsible for the filing process for all communications relations’ activities.
  • Any other task requested by supervisor.

Expected Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, international development, marketing, or related social science field is required.
  • Minimum five years experience working in related fields, preferably within an NGO environment is required, preferably with USAID.
  • Must have strong written skills and analytical capabilities, with the ability to write creatively and report accurately; strong proofreading skills.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken) is required.
  • Ability to work alone and as a team player.
  • Strong remote management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Mail Merge, Email and Internet; InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom
  • Willingness to travel within the West Bank. Jerusalem and Gaza, when possible.
