IREX enables local individuals and institutions to build key elements of a vibrant society: quality education and innovative youth development programming, independent media, and strong communities.
In the West Bank and Gaza, IREX is implementing the USAID-funded Partnerships with Youth (PWY) program. The PWY Program expands educational and leadership opportunities for young people aged 14-29 throughout the West Bank by creating sustainable hubs for youth innovation and learning, called Youth Development Resource Centers (YDRCs). PWY supports YDRCs throughout the West Bank to offer otherwise unavailable services and programming for youth to prepare them for a successful transition to adulthood and help ensure economic and civic participation in their communities.
Summary of Position:
Under the supervision of the M&E/Communications Manager, the Communications Specialist will assist with the PWY project communications and reporting. The M&E Specialist will be responsible for implementing the PWY communication strategy, increasing the visibility of the PWY project and the YDRCs among a variety of audiences, and supporting the YDRCs to develop efficient and useful communication tools and strategies.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Design, in collaboration with the project team, the PWY communication strategy and monitor its implementation;
- Provide capacity building support and training in communications and outreach to the YDRCs, including assisting the YDRCs to develop tailored communication plans and supporting them during their implementation;
- Contribute to the development of biweekly, quarterly, and annual reports;
- Assist in drafting a variety of communications materials to promote project accomplishments to USAID, the public, and other target audiences;
- Monitor local media for information on PWY and the YDRCs, as well as to ensure YDRC compliance with USAID regulations and IREX standards;
- Supervise the work of the Reporting and M&E Fellow;
- Participate in other communications initiatives as needed; and
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- University degree in English, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
- Previous communication experience on a USAID-funded program and familiarity with USAID branding and marking requirements for communications products.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft applications.
- Superior writing, editing, and oral presentation skills in English and Arabic, as evidenced by professional experience.
- Experience with program communications and outreach.
- Ability to plan strategically and creatively to meet specified objectives.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills including ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Willingness to work in a flexible manner in terms of number of working hours and days of work, as required by the demands of the program.
- Willingness and ability to travel to Jerusalem and cities within the West Bank, as needed.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with team members and partners.
