Job Description
Job Title: Community Events Organizer
GRANT: Mercy Corps
Start Date: ASAP
End Date : 15th July 2013
Scope of work:
-Organize community events and activities involving peer leaders and their family members.
-Help to foster women peer networks and facilitate community involvement and social inclusion.
-Support clients and families in organizing their own networks and activities in the community.
-Help to develop mother peer group training.
-Help to mentor mothers of children under 5 years old.
-Facilitate community based activities and ensure provision of necessary materials and resources.
-Work with Program Manager to design mother community peer support networks.
-Produce project schedules and undertake reporting of activities.
-Consult and collaborate with other organizations and agencies
-Participate in training and coordination meetings with IMC and other organizations as required
-Submit regular reports on cumulative data and indicators to IMC M&E Officer
-Other responsibilities assigned by the Supervisor.
Deliverables:
-Organization of workshops, trainings, and events
-Weekly reports of all activities
-Regular reports of client and family feedback
Minimum Qualifications:
-Bachelor degree in Social Work or Psychology
-At least 2 years of progressive experience in working with communities/women groups
-Excellent relationships with community and various community organizations
-Good English
Skills:
-Experience of working with mothers of young children
-Experience in teaching/training/Facilitation
-Experience of mentoring women
-Flexibility and high motivation to learn
-Strong commitment to working with mothers
OTHER COMMENTS:
Community Events Organizer must be very well organized and have strong interpersonal skills. They must be able to develop strong relationships with women in the community and provide support and act as a mentor to young mothers. Must have strong background of working with mothers and young children either as an educator or through designing psycho social activities.
