JOB PROFILE

MSF Spain is looking for a Community Mental Health Worker in Hebron to help us providing optimal preventive and psychosocial aid to people with mental health and psychosocial needs at community level according to MSF principles, standards and procedures in order to provide the most appropriate mental health support for patients

Accountabilities:

•             Providing information and education to the affected population on mental health/psychosocial (psycho-education), according to specific needs

•             Working together with other team members to prepare/produce various mental health psychosocial education messages/topics, according to specific groups and needs e.g. caretakers of malnourished children, population affected by armed conflict, etc.

•             Identifying and appropriately referring patients who need medical or mental health assistance and providing psychological first aid to identified community members in need.

 

•             Promoting MSF mental health services in the community (including MSF Mobile Clinics).

•             Providing mental health awareness sessions by conducting group psychoeducation CMHI related to general mental health concepts in the community to specific target population groups.

•             Assessing the mental health needs of the community and affected target population by conducting mental health screening sessions, making the proper referral to MSF social or mental health services.

•             If it is needed, conducting individual and group psychological first aid (PFA) to affected people after recent traumatic event (maximum 2 weeks after the event) and providing adequate referral to MSF mental health or SW services.

•             Conducting and evaluating the effectiveness of MSF community mental health activities via satisfaction questionnaires.

•             Promoting the MSF mental health services via communication in social media (radio, TV and others).

•             Actively participating in trainings for Community Mental Health Workers in order to update and improve the skills related to mental health.

•             Updating the data collection tools: share point data collection, respecting the entry time of data and providing reports as per requested.

•             In case of need, among with the medical team, participating in activates related to the local emergency response.

•             Organizing supportive activities in the community (art for children, discussion sessions, etc.), if required.

•             Ensuring that all patients attending MSF activities are well informed about services provided.

•             Visiting families in their home/tent/shelter if required, in order to facilitate defaulters' tracing or to offer psycho-education.

•             Attending supervision sessions and educational sessions with members of the team.

Maintaining monitoring data and producing regular work reports to the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Education

No specific degree required

Experience

•             Preferably coming from the beneficiaries’ community and well accepted

•             Desired experience in community and/or social work

Languages                      

Mission Language:  essential Arabic and english advance or intermediate is apreciated
