Position Title: COMPUTER MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Computer Management Assistant.  The main purpose of this position is to provide both hardware and software support to the Mission’s system users, including installation, maintenance and troubleshooting. The incumbent will manage certain Mission applications as well as installs, configures and troubleshoots these programs and gives access rights to authorized users. The incumbent will customizes the standard operating system image for desktop computers along with installing and upgrading desktop operating systems and office applications on computers.  S/he will also replace and upgrade computer hardware, printers, and peripherals as well as update applications with latest patches and provides training to application users.  The incumbent will maintain system standards and security standards on PCs and provides residential IT support for employees covered under the government housing to provide secure IT protection and more efficient operations at home. The work environment is open, with a current staff of about 140 people and requires motivated, customer service-oriented individuals.  

DESIRED QUALIFICATONS:
-Completion of secondary school is required.  Two years of college-level education or training in the fields of computer science, information systems management, or equivalent is highly desirable.
-Two to four years of progressively responsible work of a technical and administrative nature where emphasis is placed on analytical, judgmental, and expository abilities with respect to the operation, management, and utilization of computer systems, of which at least one year must have been in operating computers, providing PC support, and performing programming work.
-Technical knowledge of hardware and software capabilities, computer operation procedures, and computer programs is required.  Must have good technical skills to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve hardware and software problems.
-Must have knowledge of fact finding techniques, standard business practices and management principles.
-Must have knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office applications, and Windows network administration.  Knowledge of Web development and network switching is desirable.
-Ability to relate proposed priorities and projects to the capabilities and limitations of the computer systems and components to determine capability to meet support requirements.
-Level IV English (fluent) is required.  Working knowledge of Arabic and Hebrew desirable.
