Construction Vocational Trainers (5-Trainers)-Gaza Strip

Mercy Corps (MC) is a nonprofit international relief and development organization working in 41 countries. Mercy Corps has had a presence in the West Bank and Gaza since the 1980s, helping Palestinians meet their immediate needs for survival and find durable solutions to chronic problems. With offices in East Jerusalem, Ramallah and Gaza City, Mercy Corps implements programs throughout the Palestinian territories.

MC is implementing an Economic Development project under the broader Palestinian Community Assistance Program (PCAP) funded by USAID.  PCAP’s Economic Development program works in several sectors of Gaza’s local economy, and assists young people to prepare for work. Under the PCAP, MC will conduct construction vocational training for 200 Gazans in the field of concrete shuttering, steel fixing, electrical and plumbing work. The vocational training will be carried out on three phases, theoretical, practical and on-job.
Mercy Corps seeks (5)qualified Technical Vocational Trainers, Engineers to develop training materials and deliver a series of vocational trainingsin one or more of the following fields: concrete shuttering, steel fixing, electrical and plumbing work related to the construction trade.Each vocational-training will combine theory and practice, qualifying the trainees to carry out specific tasks, on industry work sites, or in neighborhood workshops or community facilities.  

Service provider Qualifications:
1-An academic degree in relevant engineering field.
2-At least 3 years of progressive, practical experience in the construction industry, including training experience.
3-At least 4 years of demonstrated experience in relevant vocational education,
4-Solid and proven experience in developing vocational materials and content (theoretical and practical).
5-Clear understanding of the construction/contracting sector and in education/vocational training systems on the Gaza Strip context.
6-Understanding of the adult learning/training methodologies.

The total anticipated implementation/delivery is 3 months starting January 2012.The training(s) will to take place 6-days/week, 8-hours/day.

TOR: can be picked up at Mercy Corps Gaza Office, 2nd Floor, AbuGhalioun Building during normal working hours; starting from Monday 26 December 2011 during official working hours. Normal working hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Sunday to Thursday.

Submission:Technical and financial proposals along with the TOR should be submitted in a sealed envelopeprovided by Mercy Corps, addressed to:
