Construction Vocational Training Consultant-Gaza Strip
Mercy Corps (MC) is a nonprofit international relief and development organization working 41 countries. Mercy Corps has had a presence in the West Bank and Gaza since the 1980s, helping Palestinians meet their immediate needs for survival and find durable solutions to chronic problems. With offices in East Jerusalem, Ramallah and Gaza City, Mercy Corps implements programs throughout the Palestinian territories.
MC is implementing an Economic Development project under the broader Palestinian Community Assistance Program (PCAP) funded by USAID. PCAP’s Economic Development program works in several sectors of Gaza’s local economy, and assists young people to prepare for work. Under the PCAP, MC will conduct construction vocational training for 200 Gazans in the field of concrete shuttering, steel fixing, electrical and plumbing work. The vocational training will be carried out on three phases, theoretical, practical and on-job.
MC seeksthe services of an Individual Consultant to develop operating guidelines and curriculae for the vocational training. The main focus of the consultancy will be to outline good training procedures & practices and training curriculae that will combine theory and practice, qualifying the trainees to carry out specific tasks on industry work sites.
Qualifications Required:
1-An academic degree in Civil Engineering. Master’s degree or higher is an advantage.
2-At least 3 years of progressive, practical experience in the construction industry, including training experience.
3-At least 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in engineering education, preferably in vocational training.
4-Clear understanding to the construction/contracting sector and in education/vocational training systems on the Gaza Strip context.
5-Understanding of adult learning processes and training methodologies.
The total anticipated implementation/delivery is8 weeks starting January, 2012.
TOR: can be picked up at Mercy Corps Gaza Office, 2nd Floor, AbuGhalioun Building during normal working hours; from Monday 26 December 2011during official working hours. Normal working hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Sunday to Thursday.
Submission:Technical and financial proposals along with the TORshould be submitted in a sealed envelope provided by Mercy Corps, addressed to:

The Sealed Offer must bear the name of the offering contractor and be delivered to Mercy Corps’ GazaOffice; and must be delivered before 12:00 PM on Thursday 5 January 2012 at Mercy Corps’ office
