Shiam is a locally registered non-profit organization that aims to spread principles of good citizenry,

democracy and good governance among youth.

 

With funding provided by Canada Feminist Fund - CFF;

Shiam invites eligible individual consultants to indicate their interest in providing

 Specialized Training and Coaching Services for Enhancing Expertise and knowledge Exchange Between Youth & Retired Citizens Focused on the Democratic Rights & Election Processes in Palestine

Project Goal

The project will aim to engage youth and senior citizens/retirees with extensive experience in the co-development of a series of digital podcasts around the subject of elections, civil and women rights that will be disseminated to the general public and youth living in Palestine including the diaspora aiming to spread awareness about the importance of youth and women participation in the election process and what role they can play in shaping the future of their country.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general direction of Shiam and its partners, the consultant is required but not limited to undertaking the following:

 

• Prepare training material/curricula including relevant preparatory reading materials, final agenda, audio-visual presentations, and handouts in both English and Arabic.
• Ensure the training material is nuanced, updated, and considers relevant socio-historic and political contexts on both global and local level with focus on women and youth engagement in Palestine.
• Prepare a baseline assessment of participants’ level of knowledge and expectations regarding the training to be conducted
• Present successful case studies and lessons learned in human rights documentation
• Implement high quality program activities in line with project description, objectives, and fields
• Deliver the 5 days capacity building training for the 40 participants in person and be prepared to deliver some of the training sessions online in case of emergencies
• Lead, engage and motivate participants to partake an active role in training sessions and activities
• Oversee and ensure consistent applications of lessons and methods taught to participants to ensure best results in podcast content design and brainstorm processes
• Attend to feedback and requests of participant as appropriate during the training period and be open to modify training approach as needed
• Support the participants throughout the project’s duration in designing the podcasts content
• Equip participants with skills to articulate complex academic/legal concepts in the fields of human rights, gender, and democracy in a simple and clear manner
• Be mindful of the diverse cultural and age backgrounds of all participants during training and design activities suitable to such diversity
• Follow-up with the participants after the completion of the training sessions and attend to all their relevant needs during their podcast implementation period.
• Coordinate with the production agency that we will contract to provide 3-days training on creating podcasts.
• Cooperate with full transparency and collegiality with Shiam’s project management and coordination team and be open to constant feedback and alteration requests to training material
• Ensure that M&E report, Closing and Progress report are in accordance with donor’s and Shiam’s criteria and timeline

• Minimum 5 years of experience in designing and implementing of similar trainings.
• Minimum B.A. degree in Human Rights, Gender Studies, International Lawa or in a relevant discipline.
• Expertise in using practical and theoretical approaches in training delivery.
• Expertise in trainings in fields such as Human Rights, Gender studies and Democracy
• Excellent command of written and oral English & Arabic
• Expertise and ability to work with youth and senior citizens
• Excellent presentation and public speaking skills

• Excellent communication and engagement skills engage participants of all kinds of social and age backgrounds
• Adequate level of emotional intelligence to navigate sensitive discussion that might come up during training sessions
• A strong commitment to human rights, gender, and political freedoms
• A deep understanding of up to date social, political, and economic global relevant issues
• Strong out of the box thinker to prepare for sudden and unique challenges
• Creative and an engaging personality to ensure a creative training approach, methodology and process
• Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of participants with diverse identities, cultural backgrounds, skillsets, and orientations
• Patience when dealing with elderly and youth participants

Expected Duration of Assignment is March 2022 – July 2022
