Consultant for Developing the Practice Teaching Manual

Introduction:
An-Najah National University (NNU) has received a grant from the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF)
– Ministry of Education and Higher Education, funded by the World Bank for the project entitled:
Language Arts Pre-service Teacher Education Development Program. The grant aims to develop the
Language Arts Pre-service Teacher Education Program and build the capacity of English Language
Faculty members in the Colleges of Education at An-Najah National University, AL-Quds University,
Hebron University, and all the TEIs in Palestine, in conjunction with an international consultant
institution. Accordingly, An-Najah National University intends to utilize part of this grant for the
employment of a highly qualified consultant who will be responsible for developing the Practice
Teaching Manual for the Language Arts Pre-service Teacher Education Development Program.

Assignment Objective:
An-Najah National University is seeking a highly qualified consultant to develop a Practice Teaching
Manual for the Language Arts Pre-service Teacher Education Development Program.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
1-Review the Practice Teaching Manuals in the three universities.
2-Submit an action plan to the Advisory Committee to develop the Practice Teaching Manual for the
Language Arts Pre-service Teacher Education Development Program.
3-Develop the Practice Teaching Manual in cooperation with the project’s collaborative teams and
the international consultant.
4-Modify the draft manual according to comments from the project’s collaborative teams and the
international consultant.
5-Present the final draft of the Practice Teaching Manual to all people concerned and prepare the
final copy of the manual for submission to the Advisory Committee for approval.

Qualifications & Skills:
1-PhD from an accredited university in Education, TESOL or another related field.
2-Minimum of five years professional experience in teacher training and education.
3-Previous experience in Practice Teaching Manual development.
4-Excellent communication and networking skills.
5-Excellent reporting and formal writing skills in both English and Arabic.
6-Excellent technical, interpersonal and administrative skills.
7-Excellent knowledge of Teacher Education Strategy in Palestine.

Time-frame:
The duration of the assignment is three months.

Deliverables:
The assignment should result in a detailed report about the current manuals in the three universities.
The Practice Teaching Manual should provide detailed procedures concerning the practice teaching
process for the Language Arts Pre-service Teacher Education Program. The manual should be user
friendly and include at minimum the following:

1-Introduction
2-Table of contents
3-Description of the practice teaching vision and process.
4-Criteria for choosing practice schools.
5-Criteria for choosing schools’ mentors and training material for mentor teachers.
6-Roles and responsibilities of university faculty members in practice teaching.
7-Assessment tools required.
8-References used (books, electronic sites…etc.).

Contract Type:
Lump- Sum.
