Contracting Organization: Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) 
 
Location of the assignment: West Bank 

 

1. Background: 

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) is a UK-registered charity that has been reaching out to the Palestinian communities, striving to deliver health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation, and displacement. MAP provides immediate medical aid to those in need at times of crisis while also developing local capacity and skills to ensure the long-term development of the Palestinian healthcare system.  

MAP’s vision is of a future in which all Palestinians can access an effective, sustainable, and locally led system of healthcare and the full realization of their rights to health and dignity. 

In reference to the project titled: “Emergency primary health, DRR, protection and capacity development services to conflict-affected populations in Gaza and the West Bank,” which is funded by the EU, and implemented in partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and MAP. MAP seeks to hire two local consultants to review and update the pre-hospital emergency protocols. 
 

2. Objectives:  
The main objective of this consultancy is review and update the existing prehospital emergency protocols to ensure they reflect the latest best practices, evidence-based practice, and align with current standards of care, ensuring tailoring to the Palestinian context.  
 

3. Scope of Work:  

The consultant will be expected to: 

  • Conduct a thorough review of existing prehospital  emergency  protocols  
  • Identify gaps and areas for improvement in the current protocols. 
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders by gathering their insights and feedback through consistent communication and regular meetings and integrate the feedback into the protocols. 
  • Update prehospital emergency protocols based on the findings. 
  • Provide recommendations for implementation and capacity-building needs at prehospital level. 
  • Facilitate workshops for disseminating and introducing the updated protocols to stakeholders. and deliver a presentation about the developed protocols. 
  • Submit a complete report about the activity which includes, methodology, results, and recommendations. 
  • Complete the safeguarding online training via kayaconnect.org and provide the completion certificate to MAP. 

4. Deliverables: 

  • Updated prehospital emergency protocols. 
  • Final report with documentation of the review process and updated protocols.

Job Requirements

5. Qualifications: 

  • A degree in emergency medicine, emergency nursing or advanced paramedics. Advanced degree preferred. 
  • At least 5-8 years of experience in trauma care, prehospital emergency care, or related areas. 
  • Proven experience in reviewing and developing healthcare protocols. 
  • Familiarity with the healthcare context in the West Bank, Palestine. 
  • Strong analytical, communication, and facilitation skills. 
  • Good experience in reporting.  

Good command of the English language both written and spoken. 
 
6. Duration:
The consultation is expected to take place over a period of 6 months, starting from the date of contract signing.
