Consultancy for MENTAL HEALTH AND PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT (MHPSS) training
GAZA STRIP


Context

Médecins du Monde (MDM) France is an international medical organization, which has been present in the occupied Palestinian territory since 1995. It operates in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank through offices located in Jerusalem, Gaza and Nablus.

Project background:

MDM is having a partnership with Culture and Free Thoughts Association (called after CFTA) aiming to reinforce the capacity of the psychologists and social workers working in 3 Community Centers. This training will specifically focus on reinforcing the skills of the 6 psychologists, 5 Social Workers and 1 drama Therapist

Objective of Consultancy

The main objective of this consultancy is to provide training to MDM partner`s 10 staff. The training topic will be

“Mind & Body Skills - Techniques for Stress Management”

-  By the end of the training participants should be able to:

-Expand their knowledge about Stress, definition, types and effects.
-Recognize their personal level of stress and deal with it effectively.
-Meet the Mind Body Techniques, gain knowledge about them and how to adapt them for MHPSS Field work
-Master basic Mind Body Skills and Techniques through MHPSS Interventions.

Methodology:

The methodology to be used during the training should be participative and interactive with key theoretical input. The consultant is expected to work in close collaboration with MdM Mental Health Manager. He / She is expected to facilitate the sessions in Arabic. However, all the material provided (final agenda, presentations, pre and post-test, final report) should be available in English as well.

Tasks

-To meet and stay in touch with MdM Mental Health Manager in Gaza to clarify the objectives of the training and to get information about MdM GAZA MHPSS strategy and program.
-To meet the MdM Partner MHPSS Staff to discuss needs and expectations (pre-training needs assessment).
-To analyze the information collected during the pre-training needs assessment meeting and send to the MH Manager a summary of the key points (max. 2 pages including specific needs and expectations) – no later than 2 days after the meeting.
-To build the training program according to the information collected during the needs assessments and to link it with the actual practices inside the CFTA Community Centers.
-To prepare an initial draft Agenda for 5 full days (6 hours per day) of training
-To develop the training kit which should include: Final draft agenda, theoretical presentations, methods used during the training, and evaluation tools (pre and post testing questionnaires)- The final Training Kit should be in English.
-To share the final agenda, the planned activities, the theoretical presentations and the evaluation tools (PRE & POST-TEST) in advance, according to the schedule, with the MH Manager (minimum 3 days before starting the facilitation of the training).
-To conduct training/facilitate the sessions (5 days)
-MAXIMUM one week after the training: to provide a final report IN ENGLISH (between 5 and 10 pages) including:

a.Outcomes of Pre and post testing including comments
b.Acquired skills and skills to be improved
c.Recommendations for further training sessions
d.Annexes : final agenda, methodology and  presentation handouts.

Management:

Within the framework of the service provision, the consultant will be asked to collaborate with MDM F Mental Health Manager (Gaza), who will be the focal contact persons for this services support and follow up.

Profile
 
MDM is looking for qualified service providers (individuals and/or organizations) with the following characteristics:

-Mind Body Training Certification
-EXTENSIVE Stress management practice with different age groups (children, teenagers, adults)
-Valuable experience in psychosocial interventions
-Valuable experience in training and supervising mind & body practitioners
-Demonstrate experience in designing training agenda, manage group dynamics and enable groups to learn together based on their field experiences.
-Strong communication and facilitation skills
-Excellent writing + speaking skills Arabic and English
-Knowledge of context and cultural aspects

Work schedule

Deadline for applications: 1st of November 2017   
Interviews: 6th of November 2017–MdM Gaza Office
Contract starting date: 8th of November 2017
Meeting with CFTA Teams: 9th of November 2017 (to discuss needs and expectations) / needs assessment report (maximum 2 pages) by Sunday 12th of November 2017   
Delivery of draft training kit for MDM feedback and validation: Sunday 19th of November 2017     
Delivery of FINAL Training Kit:  Thursday 23rd of November 2017   
Conduct training days: 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th of November 2017
Delivery of final report: no later than one week after the last day of the training. (Thursday 7th of December 2017)
This schedule is estimated and can be modified upon approval of MdM Mental Health Coordinator
