Consultants for Updating the Language Arts Teacher Education Programs
Introduction:
An-Najah National University (NNU) has received a grant from the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF) –
Ministry of Education and Higher Education, funded by the World Bank for the project entitled: Language Arts Pre-service Teacher Education Development Program. The grant aims to develop the Language Arts Pre-service Teacher Education Program and build the capacity of English Language Faculty members in the Colleges of Education at An-Najah National University, Al-Quds University, Hebron University, and all the TEIs in Palestine in conjunction with an international consultant institution.
Accordingly, An-Najah National University intends to utilize part of this grant for the employment of highly qualified consultants to update and upgrade the Language Arts Pre-service Teacher Education Program.
Assignment Objective:
An-Najah National University is considering the selection of highly qualified consultants to
update and upgrade the Language Arts Pre-service Teacher Education Programs.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
1-Review the academic courses in the Language Arts Pre-service Teacher Education Program and select courses to be upgraded.
2-Formulate new ILOs for each course in the Language Arts pre-service Teacher Education Program in cooperation with the international consultant.
3-Update and upgrade the curriculum of each course in cooperation with the international consultant.
4-Upgrade and prepare a manual for teaching strategies based on the social constructivist approach in cooperation with the international consultant.
5-Define new trends and assessment techniques to be integrated into the courses in cooperation with the international consultant.
6-Develop an assessment manual, which includes a detailed description of the new assessment techniques.
Qualifications & Skills:
1-PhD from an accredited university in Education, TESOL or another related field.
2-Minimum of five years of professional experience in teacher training and education.
3-Good experience and proven record in curriculum development.
4-Excellent communication and networking skills.
5-Excellent reporting and formal writing skills in both English and Arabic.
6-Excellent technical, interpersonal and administrative skills.
7-Excellent knowledge of the Teacher Education Strategy in Palestine.
Time-frame:
The duration of the assignment is three months.
Deliverables:
1-Detailed report about the current courses and justification to upgrade selected courses.
2-ILO’s for selected courses.
3-Update and upgrade selected courses based on the updated ILO’s.
4-Updated manual that describes teaching strategies based on the social constructivist approach.
5-Develop an assessment manual and assessment techniques for selected courses.
Approval and Submission of:
1-New ILOs for each course.
2-Detailed outlines and descriptions for each course.
3-A teaching strategies manual.
4-An assessment manual.
Contract Type: Lump-Sum.
