Background
Turquoise Mountain is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation established in 2006 to revive traditional crafts, historic areas and to provide jobs, skills and opportunity through cultural heritage projects. By blending heritage buildings, education and enterprise, Turquoise Mountain has created sustainable heritage places and livelihoods that support the revival of artisan industries. Turquoise Mountain now works in Afghanistan, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia, and the Levant. Since 2006, Turquoise Mountain has restored over 150 historic buildings, created employment for thousands of artisans and builders, built over 50 small businesses, and supported and generated over $17 million in sales of traditional crafts to domestic and international markets.
Context
Turquoise Mountain Levant works across the region to deliver sustainable heritage-led regeneration for communities and connect hundreds of artisans to new and sustainable markets. This is an exciting time for the organisation, as we are growing our operation, and opening a new home for Turquoise Mountain in Bethlehem to collaborate with Palestinian artisans, connect them to international markets, and open up new livelihoods in the craft sector.
Role Summary:
Turquoise Mountain is seeking an experienced Cultural Projects & Partnerships Manager in Palestine who will run Turquoise Mountain’s Cultural Projects department. This role will include the development and management of new cultural partnerships, cultural research, cultural-related advocacy work, exhibition related work, and for the launch and running of our Crafts Hub. In addition, you will have responsibility for the overall delivery of a new culture and creative industries (“CCI”) grant for Turquoise Mountain – including donor management, programme design in collaboration with other department leads, stakeholders, and the donor, and delivery of programme objectives and activities.
Deliverables:
- Development and management of Cultural Projects Department for Turquoise Mountain in Palestine, including management of new cultural partnerships, cultural research, cultural-related advocacy work, exhibitions, and our soon-to-launch Crafts Hub in Bethlehem.
- Management of large culture-related grants for Turquoise Mountain, including partnership management with the donor, reporting, compliance, project design and development, coordination with relevant stakeholders, partners and other department leads.
- Partnership development within the cultural sector – seeking out, developing and launching new relevant partnerships in the cultural sphere to strengthen and enhance Turquoise Mountain’s existing work and impact.
- The role does not currently include the management of any full-time staff but will include the management of up to ten consultants at various times, including overseeing their workflow, tasks and delivery.
- Contribute to the development of the fundraising and business development strategy to support the Deputy Levant Director.
- Develop and maintain an overview of the CCI grants donor requirements, rules and regulations, and deadlines, including filing of grant documents.
- Support to departmental leads to ensure donor compliance and quality control across the project portfolio.
Contract Duration:
12-month contract – renewable depending on performance and project needs.

- A minimum of seven-years of experience in cultural and/or cultural heritage work managing large multi-year cultural projects;
- Existing network of relationships within the cultural sector in Palestine with cultural organisation and creative businesses;
- Experience in grant and donor management;
- Good understanding of donor rules and regulations. Knowledge of institutional donors’ rules, regulations, priorities, and compliance requirements;
- Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal.
- This role is only open to Palestinian nationals.
- You must be based within the West Bank or be able to travel to and around the West Bank on a weekly basis.
