Curriculum Development Consultant
Introduction
AN-Najah National University has received a grant from the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF) -Education to Work Transition Project - Ministry of Education and Higher Education and funded by the World Bank for the project entitled: Linking with the Private Tourism Sector: The Tourism and Archaeology Department Curriculum Reform..This project aims to empower young people and equip them with the needed skills and linkages that can help them, through getting employment, to have an active role and contribute to the variety and quality of the local Tourism and Archaeology Program. The project focuses on networking with the private sector to sustain a continuous updating of the curriculum and infrastructure of the program and keep it current to the contemporary
needs. Accordingly, AN-Najah National University seeks the selection and hiring of a Curriculum Development Consultant.
Assignment Objective
AN-Najah National University is now considering the selection of a professional and qualified expert consultant to be part of the consultation team, who will assess the current curriculum of the Tourism and Archaeology Program and provide a comprehensive new curriculum that is based on the need of the local and regional market and private sector, and aims at upgrading the skills of the students and qualifying them to meet the need of the market, thus, increasing the graduates’ chances of employment.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
The Curriculum Development Consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
1-Review and revise the current curriculum of the Tourism and Archaeology Program at AN-Najah National University. including courses, credit hours and prerequisites.
2-Identify in depth strengthens and weaknesses of the current curriculum based on the revision mentioned above and the market need assessment study report.
3-Review similar curriculums of similar programs at universities in the region, especially in Jordan and Egypt.
4-Based on the above, provide an updated curriculum for the Tourism and Archaeology Program at AN-Najah National University, in accordance to the above mentioned reviews and feedbacks from faculty of AN-Najah National University and partners of the project.
5-Train AN-Najah National University staff on the approved modified curriculum
6-Responsible of modifying the developed courses after being tested based on students’ and staff feedback.
Deliverables:
1-Comprehensive strength & weakness analysis report including benchmarking of the current curriculum with the recommended actions. The report to be presented in a meeting or workshop and discussed with AN-Najah National University faculties and partners and other partners to get approval.
2-First and final drafts of revised modified and updated curriculum for the Tourism and Archaeology Program including outlines, full course description and teaching methodologies of a minimum of eight (8) core courses based on the needs and requirements of the labor market.
3-Training Materials for the TOT
4-Conducting at least three training workshops (around 9 training hours) to the academic staff on the developed courses,
5-Final Comprehensive Report documenting the whole conducted activities including but not limited to: implemented activities, results, findings, recommendations, proposed actions, current needs and lessons learnt.
Essential Required Qualifications:
1-At least PhD from an accredited university in Tourism and Archaeology studies or any other related field.
2-Experience in conducting at least two similar assignment of developing academic programs and curriculums.
3-Minimum of two years of professional experience in academic teaching.
4-Excellent communication and networking skills.
5-Excellent reporting and formal writing skills in both English and Arabic.
Contract Type: Lump Sum Contract.
