Curriculum Review Consultation for Agriculture Programs' Courses

Introduction

An-Najah National University has received a grant from the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF) Education to Work Transition Project/Additional Financing - Ministry of Education and Higher Education and funded by the World Bank for the project entitled (Transforming Agriculture Curriculum and Training Practices – TACT). The project is designed to improve the learning and training opportunities for agriculture students by gradually moving towards more experiential learning practices. The main focus for this project is directed towards providing learners with more authentic learning experiences and towards defining and addressing the needs of the agricultural companies and sectors in the national market. This project comes as part of ANNU’s effort to reform curriculum plans in the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (FAVM). The project targets the junior and senior year courses in the agricultural education. Its main goal is to redesign and implement course plans in collaboration with the private sector so the courses will provide the students with more opportunities to learn via more authentic experiences by working on agricultural companies’ authentic projects. The project will be implemented over the period of three years.

Accordingly, An-Najah National University seeks the selection and employment of course review consultant for the agriculture industry-based courses.

Job Requirements

Assignment Objective

An-Najah National University is now considering the selection of a professional and qualified one consultant to provide course review and one on one consultation on the new designed course curriculum which uses project and industry based methodologies. The consultant will also review the internship structure, goals, outcomes, and procedures. This consultancy includes the new redesigned course outlines of Plant Production & Protection, Animal Production & Animal Health, and Nutrition & Food Technology. In total, the consultant will review and report on 12 new courses.

To complete the assignment, the consultant will work with the academic staff in FAVM and the mentors of the project partners from the private sector.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Prepare and submit the course review template in coordination with the project director.
  • Review the revised 12 courses outlines (syllabus) and internship program for The Plant Production & Protection Program, Animal Production & Animal Health, and Nutrition & Food Technology
  • Conduct one on one meetings with the course designers and the mentors from the private sector;
  • Present the consultancy results to the project technical committee.
  • Submit detailed review report.

 
Deliverables:

  • Course review template.
  • Final Comprehensive Report documenting the whole conducted assignment including but not limited to: implemented activities, results, findings, recommendations, and proposed actions.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD Degree from an accredited university in Agriculture or any related field
  • Proven experience in conducting curriculum review assignments.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in university teaching.
  • Proven experience in the Palestinian industry-based curriculum design and evaluation..
  • Excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Excellent reporting and formal writing skills in both English and Arabic.
