Project Context & Objectives

The organization-wide L3 emergency was declared on October 21, 2023, for a period of six months and was later extended by an additional six months to respond to the unprecedented crisis in the State of Palestine, with a focus on the Gaza Strip.

We, in collaboration with our partner, are leading an extensive humanitarian response to address the escalating needs of vulnerable populations in the Gaza Strip. The PRM project focuses on ensuring that essential services reach displaced families, particularly in the areas of education, water, sanitation, and child protection.

The Data and Reporting Specialist will play a critical role in supporting us by collecting information concerning our partner’s shelters, as well as in data consolidation, analysis, and reporting. This position will also facilitate effective coordination with us and relevant humanitarian clusters to ensure that data-driven decision-making contributes to timely and impactful interventions for affected communities.

Tasks/Deliverables

Under the overall supervision of the Information Management Specialist, and in coordination with our CFO and our partner, the specialist will discharge the following key assignments:

Data Management and Consolidation

  • Collect, clean, and consolidate data from our partner related to programmatic activities and monitoring insights under the PRM project.
  • Maintain an updated database of beneficiaries, service delivery points, and other relevant metrics, including field monitoring insights.

Data Reporting and Monitoring

  • Prepare bi-weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc data reports for us and relevant humanitarian clusters (e.g., WASH, Education, CP).
  • Establish a data flow to systematically capture information concerning last-mile distribution.
  • Ensure that all reports are accurate, timely, and adhere to established standards for data quality and integrity.

Coordination

  • Collaborate closely with IM focal points to share data and support coordinated reporting for various activities and indicators.
  • Participate in data review meetings as needed to provide data insights and discuss the progress of PRM activities.

Data Visualization and Analysis

  • Generate dashboards, charts, and other data visualization tools to present program achievements and challenges effectively for our partner.
  • Conduct analysis of the collected data to identify trends, gaps, and areas of improvement.

Data Collection

  • Provide technical support and guidance to our partner’s staff on data collection tools, reporting templates, and best practices in data management.

Reporting and Briefings

  • Ensure that any urgent needs and unforeseen challenges are reported immediately for timely action.
  • Submit monthly reports as per the agreed template with the supervisor, highlighting key achievements, challenges during the reporting period, and plans for the month ahead.

Key Deliverables

  1. Data Management and Consolidation
  • Monthly Consolidated Dataset: Clean and consolidate data from our partner’s field offices related to PRM project activities, including beneficiaries, service delivery points, and other metrics (5Ws).
  • Data Reporting
  • Bi-Weekly and Monthly Reports: Submit bi-weekly and monthly data reports to us and relevant humanitarian clusters, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to data quality standards.
  • Ad-Hoc Reports: Develop and submit ad-hoc reports as requested by us or our partner, addressing specific data needs.
  • Coordination
  • Data Sharing and Coordination Notes: Share data and support coordinated reporting with IM focal points, documented through coordination notes.
  • Data Visualization and Analysis
  • Monthly Dashboards and Charts: Develop and update data visualization tools, such as dashboards and charts, to present PRM project achievements and challenges effectively for our partner.
  • Data Analysis Report: Develop ad hoc analyses and reports highlighting trends, gaps, and areas for improvement based on the collected data when requested.
  • Data Collection
  • Training Sessions: Conduct training sessions for our partner’s staff on data collection tools, reporting templates, and best practices.
  • Technical Support Logs: Maintain logs of technical support provided to our partner’s staff, documenting guidance and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Reporting and Briefings
  • Urgent Needs and Challenges Report: Immediate reporting of any urgent needs or challenges to the supervisor for timely action.
  • Monthly Progress Report: Submit a comprehensive monthly report as per the agreed template, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and a plan for the upcoming month.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data management, analysis, and reporting within the humanitarian sector. Previous experience working with UN or similar organizations is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in data management tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in developing dashboards and visualizations.
  • Experience working with humanitarian clusters and familiarity with the UN coordination system is an added advantage.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and report-writing skills.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Arabic (both written and spoken).
