ILF also performs high-level advocacy, pushing countries, international institutions, and donors to prioritize legal aid as a fundamental human right and a crucial global development issue. Our work prevents torture and mistreatment, promotes alternatives to detention, and builds fair and effective justice systems.
Since 2010, ILF has been providing quality legal aid across 11 governorates in the West Bank and advocating to strengthen legal aid for all Palestinians.
About this Role
ILF is seeking a “Database Officer/Translator” based in Ramallah. ILF prides itself on its data-driven approach for improving legal aid delivery. The Database Officer/Translator plays a pivotal role in recording and monitoring the data in ILF Palestine’s exhaustive database. They are also responsible for providing quantitative data reports to donors to report on the progress of the activities.
The Database Officer/Translator will monitor and evaluate the implementing team's progress under the supervision of the Country Director to ensure compliance with grant requirements, oversee data collection, monitor trends, and regularly report on quantitative data from ILF’s Case Management System.

Database Management:
- Collect and input data into the ILF database regularly.
- Maintain data quality by ensuring that accurate information is put into the system in a timely manner.
- Liaise with lawyers, social workers, and other team members to collect quantitative and qualitative data about ILF’s programs and cases.
- Communicate with clients, stakeholders, and community members to collect feedback.
- Conduct surveys to analyze the impact of ILF interventions.
- Produce reports that narrate ILF’s progress towards goals and demonstrate the impact ILF’s intervention is having on clients and the justice system.
- Make necessary updates to the Case Management System agreed upon with the appropriate program team staff and proactively advise on improvements needed to better track quality legal services and their impact.
- Update intake processes to ensure the necessary data is collected for entry into the Case Management System.
- Train and manage lawyers and trainee lawyers in regional offices on accurate data entry and on changes to the Case Management System or intake processes as they occur. Provide them with supporting information or resources if necessary.
- Provide reports and quantitative analysis on data from the Case Management System to demonstrate impact for donors in accordance with their grant requirements and for monitoring and evaluation of projects and ILF programming. This includes training and overseeing other paralegals who run data reports, ensuring they are accurate and align with templates and requirements.
- Additionally, assist in drafting narrative reports when needed, ensuring clear communication of data-driven insights and outcomes.
- Keep track to oversee if all required case information is entered into the Case Management System accurately, consistently, and regularly.
Translation and Interpretation:
- Translate documents and interpret meetings as needed.
- Collect stakeholder data in Arabic, ensuring thorough and accurate documentation of information provided by clients, community members, and other relevant parties.
- Translate stakeholder feedback, reports, and documents from Arabic to English, maintaining clarity, accuracy, and consistency in terminology.
- Collaborate with internal teams to facilitate cross-cultural understanding of stakeholder data, providing insights to support decision-making processes and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

Qualifications:
- A commitment to ILF’s mission and goals.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in English, computer science, project management, communication, or another related field.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience with data analysis, report writing, and project development.
- Excellent knowledge (written and spoken) of English and Arabic languages (knowledge of legal jargon is an asset).
- Experience working with data collection, analysis, and visualization tools.
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proven capacity to multi-task, organize and strategize in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel within the region assigned and its surrounding cities as needed.
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system and/or justice-involved communities is a plus.
- Prior management or supervisory experience is a plus.
