Design Review Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
CHF International is implementing a five-year, Community Infrastructure Development (CID) program in the West Bank with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This program aims to improve the quality of life for Palestinians in vulnerable communities through provision of multi-sectoral infrastructure and a wide-range of capacity building initiatives. To support the implementation of this program, CHF International and partners are seeking qualified candidates to assume the following positions, on renewable yearly contracts:
Design Review Mechanical Engineer
Location: Ramallah/Al-Bireh
Responsibilities:
As a member of the design review team, this position will be responsible for reviewing designs of projects with specialized mechanical elements, ensuring that designs are accurate and comprehensive and that BOQs are prepared in accordance with the designs. S/he will focus, in particular, on review of designs related to: water and sewage systems, air conditioning and heating, waste water and any other projects with mechanical components.
Key qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; a minimum of ten years of experience working in design or design review for a wide range of infrastructure projects; site management experience, a plus; prior experience working with USAID or other international donor-funded infrastructure projects, preferred; reporting writing skills in English and Arabic; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Local Authorities, community members and groups during different project phases. Awareness of community participation approaches in planning, implementation and monitoring, preferred; computer skills in MS office, AutoCAD, MS Project and/or Primavera; ability to work under pressure and willingness to travel frequently to various localities in the West Bank; and registered with the Engineers Association and has a valid driving license.
