Director of Communications and Resource Development
Job Description
The A.M. Qattan Foundation is seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual for the position of Director of Communications and Resource Development to work in its offices in Ramallah. Following is the job description for this senior position:
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
1-Communications and Public Relations:
-Develop and manage the implementation of the annual communications and public relations
plan, including the budget, in coordination with the Executive Director, Program Directors and
the Director of Finance
-Manage the preparation, design, printing, updating and the timely distribution of the Foundation’s
promotional and communications materials in printed and electronic formats, including but not
limited to the annual report, newsletter, articles, press releases, success stories, and brochures
-Oversee the production of film and video promotional materials
-Manage the development, periodic review and update of the website and other social media tools
-Develop the Foundation’s publishing policy, and manage the editing, design, printing and
distribution of all books, catalogues and other specialized printed material
-Manage the development of the Foundation’s archiving system and manage its updating
-Organize special public relations events, such as press conferences, interviews, open days, visits
and exhibitions
-Respond to enquiries from the public, official and non-official organizations, and the media
-Manage the Foundation’s response to critical issues and in times of crisis in coordination with
the Executive Director
2-Resource Development:
-Develop and manage the implementation of the Foundation’s fundraising strategy in
coordination with the Executive Director, Program Directors, and the Director of Finance
-Conduct an identification study and develop a data base of potential funding partners, and an
annual calendar of key prospects, calls for proposals and applications information. Review and
develop the data base on annual basis
-Manage current funding partnerships, suggesting ways to build on these relationships and
maximizing engagement
-Prepare and implement the Foundation’s annual fundraising work plan from local, regional and
international sources
-Participate in developing funding proposals in coordination with Program Director and assigned
program staff, and approach potential funding partners
-Participate in the preparation and review of donor reports; ensuring that they fulfill donor requirements and timely submission
-Review and assess achievements and setbacks; identifying strengths and weaknesses and areas
for development
3-Management:
-Manage communication and resource development staff; conduct staff appraisals and identify training needs
-Participate in management committee meetings
-Prepare regular reports including the Foundation’s semi annual and annual reports
-Represent the work of the Foundation to members of the public and partners, and where necessary deliver presentations
-Maintain organized hard and soft copies of all communications and fundraising activities
Skills/Qualifications:
-A bachelor degree in communications, business administration or relevant field
-Excellent communications, public relations, presentation and public speaking skills in both
Arabic and English
-Proven track record in effective communications and fundraising
-Knowledge of development assistance and donor community in the Palestinian context
-Ten years experience in communications, public relations and/or fundraising
-Excellent computer skills
-Specialized training in communications, public relations and/or fundraising is an advantage
-Excellent report writing skills
