Director of Global Programs
Mission:
Since 1993, Seeds of Peace inspires and cultivates new generations of global leaders in communities divided by conflict. We equip them with the skills and relationships they need to accelerate social, economic, and political changes essential for peace.
Approach:
Our leadership development model begins with a transformational camp session in Maine for exceptional young people and educators living in conflict. The program shifts attitudes and perceptions and builds respect and empathy. Our approach continues through year-round local programs that strengthen relationships and leadership capacities.
We then accelerate the impact of our alumni who are challenging the ideologies, policies, and practices that perpetuate conflict. Our network now encompasses almost 6,700 alumni throughout the Middle East, South Asia, Europe, and the United States who are uniquely positioned to lead change.
Position summary: Oversees management and execution of all Seeds of Peace programming
General purpose: Manages and supports the assessment of programming needs, design, implementation, and integration of all programs, including Leadership Programs (Camp and local programs in the Middle East, South Asia, United States), GATHER/Alumni, and Educator programs
Position responsibilities:
-Aligns programs in accordance with strategic vision and plan
-Leads and oversees programming staff in the design, development, and implementation of programs that achieve SOP’s mission, goals, and impact
-Manages Program Directors to ensure effective and efficient decision-making processes. More specifically, supports and advises Program Directors with respect to: mission fit, strategic alignment, grant management and donor relations, program support, financial accountability, organizational structure, policies and procedures, advocacy, and internal and external communication
-Determines programming needs and ways to enhance programmatic effectiveness
-Ensures the effective supervision and mentoring of all program staff; including communicating clear expectations, setting performance objectives, providing regular and timely feedback, and leading documented performance reviews
-Advocates for new program ideas and manages the development of new programs
-Identifies and collaborates across departments to find solutions to issues effecting program implementation
-Develops and enhances relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and ability to represent our mission
-Oversees project budgets and monitors operations to ensure adherence to budgetary controls, internal controls, and timely delivery of program information
-Creates systems that ensure effective management of programs, oversees the development of current programs to ensure their quality and impact, collects relevant data for organization’s impact analysis, and evaluation objectives
-Works closely with the development team on funding proposals and donor engagement
-Collaborates with the communications team to provide timely program information for external purposes, including website, e-blasts, newsletters, and social media
Required Competencies:
-Project management: including program design, budgeting, assessment, staff supervision, and reporting

-Capacity building: ability to effectively build organization and staff capacity, develop and maintain workforce and processes to ensure programmatic impact and organizational effectiveness
-Leadership and organization: exceptional capacity for managing and leading people; a team builder, who has the ability to connect staff both on an individual level and in large groups; capacity to enforce processes and accountability; ability to develop and empower leaders from the bottom up, lead from the top down; ability to learn strengths and weaknesses, cultivate environment for success
-Proven ability to proactively engage, negotiate, and work with diverse organizations
-Ability to independently respond to multiple priorities in a timely manner, producing high-quality outcomes
-Ability to work in a sometimes stressful environment while maintaining a positive attitude
-Advanced understanding of Middle East, South Asia, and US-based conflicts
-Ability to work virtually and across time zones with staff based overseas
-Willingness and ability to travel

Education/Experience
Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in higher education
At least ten (10) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience in youth development, social justice, peace-building and/or related fields. English language skills required, competency in Arabic/Hebrew a plus
