MEDICAL DOCTOR (MALE OR FEMALE)
Office base location: Jenin
Main Purpose
Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values, and universal hygiene standards in order to improve patients/beneficiaries' health conditions.
Main Responsabilities
- Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnosis and prevention. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations and, prescribe necessary treatments as per MSF protocols.
- Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
- Follow up on the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits, consultations and examinations, decide whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors and, inform their family about the patient’s evolution.
- Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care of the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material - including compliance with standing hygiene standards.
- Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patient's illness, or medical errors and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.
- Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize quality of care.
- Know and ensure all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented at all times - including checking universal precautions, reducing bio-hazard risks, and improving infection control.
- Make sure professional confidentiality is respected at all times.
- Manage the team under his/her direct responsibility according to MSF HR policies and procedures, supervising their performance, organizing and scheduling shifts and rotations, and participating in emergencies and on calls if necessary.
Context-Specific Tasks
- Providing Primary Health Care (PHC) consultations in the MSF mobile clinics, moving together with the mental health team from Jenin and spending from 2 to 3 days every week in Jericho (and possibly other locations) and 2-3 days in Jenin for preparation of activities.
- Weekly planning of the activities, with the support of the Project Medical Referent (PMR), Mental Health Activity Manager (MHAM) and Medical Assistant - following MSF standards.
- Ensure the replenishment of NCD medication and adapting the medical supply according to the evolution of the activities, with the support of MSF Pharmacy Team and PMR.
- Working together with the mental health team, offering integrated services and promoting the quality of services.

- Medical Doctor diploma (essential)
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Medical Doctor or in clinical work - i.e. medical training (essential)
- Experience in general practice, general medicine and/or training in mental health gap (desirable)
- Fluently in English orally and in writing (essential)
- Local language (essential)
- Computer literacy using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and OneDrive
