Action Against Hunger (ACF) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-political, non-denominational and non-profit making organisation working in the Palestinian Territory since 2002.
ACF is recruiting for its Gaza office a
Driver
For an initial period of 12 months
The Candidate will:
-Transport ACF’s personnel and goods within Gaza and to the project sites, according to the movement planning of the base.
-Transport ACF’s personnel from and to Erez crossing.
-Drive safely respecting the driving rules, ACF Local Standard Operating Procedures (LSOP) and other users of the roads.
-Follow up and keep records of movements, fuel consumption and maintenance of all vehicles in the base and update the vehicles’ logbooks.
-Check the vehicles (condition and mechanic) on a daily basis and to fill the requested formats.
-Make sure that all necessary items (such as tools, first aid kit, car documents, maps, fire extinguisher, and communication means) are always in each of the vehicle at the beginning of each day and before any journey.
-Fuel up the vehicles on weekly basis or when needed.
-Wash the vehicles on a bi-weekly bases or when requested by the Base Logistician.
-Follow up on car insurance and registration.
-Follow ACF security procedures and protocols.
-Give logistics and security support to ACF staff during field distribution activities.
-Take initiative in offering advice whenever security issues arise.
-Take responsibility for ensuring that the basic rules of passive security are respected (e.g. cleanliness,
order, access to extinguishers and access to exits).
-Make sure that all passengers are following ACF Local Standard Operational Procedures (LSOP).
-Purchase the office supplies, GH supplies and hibernation kit materials.
-Collect quotations, invoices, and receipts when needed.
-Copy documents on an “as required” basis.
-Maintain the office / guest house furniture and assets.
-Any other tasks as requested by the supervisor
Profile of the Candidate:
-Secondary education or higher,
-Valid Driving license for not less than 5 years; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair, and good knowledge in Gaza Strip roads,
-Minimum two years’ work experience as a driver (experience in an international organization is obligatory); safe driving record,
-Good interpersonal and communication skills,
-Well organized and accurate,
-Motivated and committed to humanitarian work,
-Ability to work in a team.
-Ability to cope with stress and conflict situations,
-Adaptability and flexibility
-Good reading, writing and speaking skills in both Arabic and English.
-Able to use MS-Office
