Job Description

Under the direct management of the Logistics Officer, the Driver will provide secure and timely driving services to transport TDH passengers and/or goods. Deliver payment transfers to the bank and/or the suppliers, assist with postage and with pick up of office purchases, Act as a Receptionist, assist with meeting room re-arrangement for various meetings/events and perform occasional handyman jobs inside the Office.

The incumbent commits to observe discretion on any information related to the organization functioning. She/he will conduct her/his duties in respect of the Charter of Terre des hommes (Tdh) and Tdh Safeguarding Policy. She/he commits to ensure high level of children participation and will always work in the best interest of the child.

Tdh intervenes without any affiliation for politics, religion, or financial profit. The incumbent will direct her/his activities and engagements without preoccupation of political, racial, or religious affiliation.

  • Assist in organize transportation according to the needs in collaboration with Head of Office/Head of Delegation and field teams.
  • Pick up and drop TDH's employees and guests to/from their travel destination, their appointments and field work areas.
  • Operates assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Presents safety briefing to passengers (visitors) prior to each trip departure, and ensures all passengers have all necessary papers in order before travelling.
  • Assist in keeping up-to-date records of all movements utilizing the logbook placed in each vehicle and carrying out a hand over if another staff member uses the vehicle.
  • Responsible for communication of movements according to TdH Security Plan
  • Adhere to Tdh security rules related to vehicle movements, specifically related to checkpoints and roadblocks.
  • Ensuring all passengers know the security rules during the trip.
  • Informing the Logistics Officer of any incident involving the transportation of passengers and/or goods

Manage Vehicle

  • Respect the rules governing the use of vehicle.
  • Responsible of the maintenance and the checkup of the vehicles (tires etc…)
  • Refilling the vehicle when necessary and supervise the cleaning of the vehicle.
  • Every 3 months, organize a complete checkup of the car.
  • Assist the Logistics Officer with all the issues linked to the maintenance of the cars: market survey, insurance, and maintenance costs.
  • Ensuring that all vehicle documents (license, insurances) are valid and renew the needed before expiry.
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, customer transportation forms, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records that are requested from management.
  • Control of levels: engine oil, cooling liquid, fuel, hydraulic brake fluid, windscreen washer water tire pressures – including the spare wheel.
  • Control tension of belts, correct operation of dashboard warning lights and ensure presence of tool kit and vehicle documents (insurance, registration card and logbook)

Act as the receptionist or office helper

  • Assist in mail delivery incoming/outgoing.
  • Support in collecting quotations.
  • Help in office hand work, tagging equipment, hanging documents, photocopying small office repairs…etc

Reporting & Communication

  • Document regularly logistics activities   and monthly management of sources of verification.
  • Report any incident related to logistics to the line manager. 

Security

  • Comply with Tdh Security Regulations; especially related to checkpoints and roadblocks, ensuring all passengers know and respect security rules.
  • Inform and share any incident or information related to the security of staff and beneficiaries with the Country Representative and Line manager

Safeguarding Policy

  • Commit to respect the Tdh Safeguarding Policy and principles of child protection.
  • Commit to ensure the best implementation possible of the Safeguarding Policy
  • Commit to inform Child Safeguarding Focal Point and to deal with any cases, allegations, or possibility of transgression, even potential, of the Safeguarding Policy.

Job Requirements
  • This role requires a mastery of Personal, Social and Leadership Competencies (PSLC), Technical and Methodological Competencies (TMC) and Management and Strategic Competencies (MSC)

In particular:

  1. Good traffic judgment & knowledge in country driving rules.
  2. Good knowledge about car mechanics
  3. Knowledge of the different locations and area roads
  4. Knowing how to use navigation tools, especially the smartphone apps.
  5. Shows integrity and ethical values during activities.
  6. Good communication skills
  7. Clean driving record
  8. Knowledge with roads and areasPatient, polite and able to keep calm during driving stressful situations.

Requirments

  • Education / Qualifications: Secondary education
  • Experience :5 years of Experience as Driver, preferred in humanitarian environment, preferable to have a previous contract with TdH even as a service provider
  • Languages: Good verbal & written English command.
  • IT Knowledges: Basic knowledge
