SOS Children’s Villages International (SOS CVI) is a dynamic social development organisation active in over 132 countries worldwide, working to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of orphaned and vulnerable children. It operates through a federation network of National Associations (NAs) across the globe, working in the areas of child development and emergency response.
SOS Children’s Villages Palestine is currently recruiting for its interim care centre in Gaza City. The interim care centre will serve as a temporary shelter for children who have either lost parental care or are at risk of losing this care.
Position: Driver / Logistician
Line Manager: ERP Project Manager
Location: Gaza City
Contract: One year fixed term
Position summary: Under the guidance and supervision of the project manager, the driver, based in Gaza will provide reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy of work for the children and for the case workers upon availability and need. They will be responsible for maintenance work on the car, in addition to performing logistical duties in and around the shelter.
Main tasks will include:
-Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
-Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
-Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts
-Drive the team and the children according to the movement planning.
-Assuring the logistical side of the project, for example minor repairs, supply and warehousing
-Apply SOS CVI security guidelines and specific instructions related to each movement.
Qualifications and Experience:
-Must have a minimum Secondary Education
-Valid Driving License
-Minimum 1 years’ experience as an INGO/ NGO driver
-Able to communicate in English language
-Knowledge in mechanics and car maintenance
