Vacancy for Economic Development Officer

The Society of Women Graduates (SWG) in Gaza Strip is a Local NGO, non-profit organization that was established in 1974 and authorized by the Palestinian Authority. The society is registered in the Ministry of Interior under No.1902 and the Ministry of Social Affairs under No.1168.  SWG works on developing and empowering the women graduates in social, political, economic, and cultural fields. SWG seeks to develop capacities and skills of woman graduates through linking the theoretical approach of the women graduates with the practical approach through the implementation of training, educational, awareness programs, and operational programs. 

SWG is currently seeking Economic Development Officer is responsible for identifying, developing and expanding income generation and job creation opportunities for women graduates. The Economic Development Officer provides SWG with business skills and income generation expertise, capacity strengthening technical assistance and other advisory, planning and oversight tasks to facilitate the economic self-sufficiency of women graduates.

Location: SWG office in Gaza city
Contract period: One year (Full time)

Responsibilities:
-Develop, manage, and oversee the society Income Generation/Job creation strategies and operational plans in coordination with senior management.
-Lead and advice on market assessments that demonstrate sustainable commercial opportunities undertaken by women graduates.
-Research and provide recommendations on job creation opportunities.
-Identify, develop, and expand strategies and partnerships (private sector and technical assistance partners) to enable income generation for women graduates.
-Identify, develop, and expand relationships with key market partners (market linkages) relevant to graduate products and services.
-Update and develop the Society strategic plan to include an income generation/job creation strategies.
-Participate in drafting and developing proposals for funding income generating and job creation programs.
-Identify local capital lenders and potential investor resources.
-Identify and design training and development program for women graduates to strengthen their capabilities.
-Increase awareness of Entrepreneurial opportunities and foster a supportive policy and cultural environment of entrepreneurship across public, Private and non-profit sector.

Required academic and professional qualifications:
-University degree in business administration or any other related field, preferably Master's degree.
-Minimum 5 years’ experience in developing, managing and implementing income generation and job creation projects.
-Previous experience in developing and delivering technical assistance to staff.
-Well organized with attention to details, initiative and good judgments, accountability and administrative competence.
-Ability to work effectively under pressure.
-Excellent communication skills in written and spoken Arabic and English.
-Extensive computer skills (especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and the Internet).
