Job Description



The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, and emergency food security, legal assistance, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours’ notice when a crisis occurs

We are looking for the following positions:
 
Two Education assistants: to assist in the day to day implementation of the Education Program functions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem Area. (1 year Renewable)
 
Role and responsibilities
 
Generic responsibilities
Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
Assist with the implementation of the education project according to the plan of action
Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
Ensure proper filing of documents
Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, explore and asses new and better ways to assist
Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
Any other task required by management

Specific responsibilities

- Focal point for all Education activities, workshops and seminars arrangements
- Focal point with logistics on all Purchase requisitions for Education project.
- Focal person for booking the meeting room and ensuring that it is kept in order; Preparing the communication equipment and Procurement of refreshment/lunch when needed.
- Data collection, proper filing and accurate record keeping of all education implementation related information such as but not limited to; trainings, teachers, attendance, activities, beneficiaries, pictures, beneficiary feedback, M&E tools
- Regularly travel to the field to ‘shadow’ education staff in activities in the first phase, and in the second phase become focal person for number of schools assigned by Project Manager
- Provide support in the schools in project related field activities
- Support Project Manager in planning and implementation of education projects and activities
- Participate in team planning, regular meetings and M&E activities
- Support and ensure activities and trainings of school teaching and non-teaching staff, MoEHE/UNRWA staff, parents, etc. and any related awareness raising sessions based on the general approved plan.
- Ensure reporting (weekly/monthly on area of responsibility) to Project Manager
 
Competencies 

Professional competencies

-    Experience in Education/youth (Education in Emergencies) sector
-    Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
-    Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
-    Good knowledge of English
-    Computer literacy
 
-    Bachelor’s degree in Education/Social Service/Civil engineering
-    At least 1 year of experience in the field of education (possibly Education in Emergency)
-    Relevant work experience in the humanitarian sector
-    Experience and commitment to participatory approaches with project beneficiaries
