Job Description



The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, and emergency food security, legal assistance, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours’ notice when a crisis occurs

We are looking for the following position:
 
1 Education Intern position: to assist in the day to day implementation of the Education Program functions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem Area. (6 months contract)
 
Role and responsibilities
 
Generic responsibilities
 
- Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Implement delegated Education project portfolio according to plan of action
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
- Ensure proper filing of documents
- Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
- Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
- Any other task required by management
 
Specific responsibilities
 
- Regularly travel to the field with education staff. Minimum 70% of the time participating in project related field activities (3 days in the schools)
- Support Education Officers/Technical Officers in planning and implementation of education projects
- Participate in team planning, regular meetings and M&E activities
- Support Education Officers in activities and training of school teaching and non-teaching staff, MoEHE/UNRWA staff, parents, etc. and any related awareness raising sessions based on the general approved plan.
- Perform Administrative tasks and keep proper filing and provide the Education team with data when needed
Critical interfaces
 
- Other CCs for integrated planning in particular with ICLA
- M&E and Advocacy units

Generic professional competencies:

-    Experience in working in education/youth sectors (possibly in humanitarian setting)
-    Experience in planning/organizing and managing small scale projects
-    Good knowledge of English
-    Computer literacy.
-    Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
-    Experience in the field of education/youth (Education in Emergency) is a plus
-    Experience of and commitment to participatory approaches to aid and development.
-    Bachelor’s degree in Education/Social Service

Behavioral competencies (max 6)

Performance Management
