United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is willing to fill the following vacant post:
Title :Education Officer –Hebron
Level : NOA– Temporary Appointment Six months
Duty Station: Hebron- oPt
Key Tasks and Responsibilities of the Assignment :
-Under the supervision of the Chief of Education in Jerusalem, support the implementation of UNICEF assisted projects (Education in particular) through provision of technical support; draft programme related documents and reports; analyze project status and recommend appropriate adjustments;
-Provide technical support through field visits to observe project implementation and draft subsequent field reports. Communicate with local counterpart authorities on project feasibility and effectiveness. Monitor the flow of supply and non-supply assistance by collecting and recording information on supply distribution and utilization.
-Collect and analyze data for periodic reporting related to the education sector in the southern areas of the West Bank; Monitor the delivery and utilization status of the supply provided by the project and facilitate timely provision of financial documentation to the central ministry or agencies;
-Prepare and update monthly and quarterly sector work plan based on meetings, discussions and field visits;Collect information on progress from other UN agencies on humanitarian assistance related matters;
-In coordination with OCHA and other agencies, undertake rapid assessments on education under emergency situation; Conduct field visits to emergency areas and prepare assessment reports for humanitarian assistance;
-Perform other duties as required or necessary;
Selection Criteria
Academic Qualifications :
-University degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Education, Primary Education, Economics, Social Sciences, or a field (s) relevant to international development assistance.
Work Experience :
-Minimum of two years of professional work experience at national / international levels relevant to Education programmes.
-Experience in facilitating, developing and monitoring joint programmes and work plans.
-Experience in conducting and coordinating education assessments, knowledge of latest technical guidelines and standards.
Other Skills and Attributes :
-Strong analytical and presentation (oral and written) skills including use of essential computer software packages.
Languages :
-Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory
Computer :
-Computer skills, including internet navigation, and various office applications.
