Summary of Position:
IREX seeks qualified Education Specialist candidates for an anticipated USAID program designed to enhance the quality and relevance of higher education in the West Bank. The program will focus on integrating global competencies and 21st century skills in university and technical college curriculum for selected fields of study. The Education Specialist will lead formal and non-formal interventions to bridge the gap between education outcomes and market needs.
This position is contingent on funding.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Lead IREX efforts (hand-in-hand with higher education institutions, technical colleges, and Centers for Learning and Teaching) to develop, improve, and re-design curricula that incorporates global competencies and 21st century skills in selected fields using formal and non-formal interventions;
Cultivate relationships with higher education institutions, technical colleges, relevant government institutions, entrepreneurship support initiatives and incubators, private sector partners and other USAID projects;
Ensure a focus on gender and inclusion in all consultation and training activities;
Maintain a keen understanding of challenges and issues facing higher education institutions in bridging the gap between education outcomes and market needs;
Support efforts in project planning, budgeting, and administrative issues;
Represent IREX and the project publicly;
Includes travel throughout the West Bank; and
Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:
Master’s degree in relevant field or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with an additional three years of experience;
Must demonstrate an excellent track record of achieving results in building capacity in higher education as well as linking education and private sector stakeholders to respond to market needs; 10 years of experience preferred;
Comprehensive knowledge of global competencies, 21st century skills, West Bank workforce development initiatives, efforts to enhance students’ competitiveness to meet market demands and/or efforts to develop and strengthen young entrepreneurs;
Experience with international donor-funded development projects, particularly in West Bank and/or other Middle Eastern countries, desired;
Outstanding verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills required;
Detail-oriented with ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced working environment;
Excellent ability to remain flexible while adhering to strict deadlines;
Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and versatility; and
Fluency in Arabic required; professional proficiency in English strongly preferred.
