JOB SUMMARY
The Emergency Preparedness Assistant will assist in conducting activities planned by the Emergency Specialist and the Emergency Officer under Intermediate Result 1: Increased capacity in emergency preparedness and rapid response for health-related humanitarian goods and services.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
-Assist in conduct mapping of health facilities and organizations capable of responding to emergencies.
-Facilitate working with partners and stakeholders
-Facilitate working with stakeholders to develop a risk assessment and to test emergency response plans at community, district, and facility level.
-Coordinate training for stakeholders on needed response capabilities: e.g. mass casualty management, triage, identification of indicators/triggers for a response, standards and guidelines applicable to crisis situations, and referral systems.
-Assist developing pre-positioning or rapid procurement strategy to ensure the ability to respond quickly in the event of a crisis.
-Perform coordination and working with Primary Health Care and Secondary Health Care teams to develop and test emergency response plans at community, district, and facility level.
-Facilitate the identification of the first response capabilities and gaps of health care providers and facilities – providing interventions to address relevant gaps.
-Ensure regular reporting on all activities under Intermediate Result 1.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
-BSc. in health science in addition to Master of Public Health.
-At least 3 years of experience working in the health field
-Prior work experience in the Palestinian Health Care System is highly desirable.
-Demonstrated familiarity with the health system in Gaza, especially with the NGOs and CBOs that provide primary, secondary and emergency health care and health outreach services.
-A strong verbal and written English communication skill is required. Arabic preferred
-Experience in use of Microsoft office and internet programs
-Based in Gaza, with frequent travel to project sites
