International Medical Corps is currently recruiting staff to be based in Gaza, for a US Agency for International Development funded project. Gaza 2020: Health Matters is a five-year intervention designed to improve the resilience of the health sector in Gaza by increasing access to and quality of emergency and essential health services provided by NGOs, CBOs, and private providers.

JOB SUMMARY
The Emergency Preparedness Program Officer will provide technical advice and supervision of activities under Intermediate Result 1: Increased capacity in emergency preparedness and rapid response for health-related humanitarian goods and services.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct mapping of health facilities and health organizations capable of responding to emergencies.
-Work with stakeholders to develop a risk assessment for the region to support response planning and identify capacity-building needs.
-Work with stakeholders to develop and test emergency response plans at community, district, and facility level.
-Coordinate training for the sub-grantees on needed response capabilities: e.g. mass casualty management, triage, identification of indicators/triggers for a response, standards and guidelines applicable to crisis situations, and referral systems.
-Participate in developing pre-positioning or rapid procurement strategy to ensure the ability to respond quickly in the event of a crisis.
-Coordinate & Work with Primary Health Care and Secondary Health Care teams to develop and test emergency response plans at community, district, and facility level.
-Support identification of the first response capabilities and gaps of health care providers and facilities – providing interventions to address relevant gaps.
-Technical Review for the grant applications submitted by the sub-awardees related to emergency
-Preparation of the specifications of the instruments and Equipment needed for emergency in the health care facilities and ensure proper installation and use by the health staff.
-Ensure regular reporting on all activities under Intermediate Result 1.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
-Specialty in emergency medicine or related subjects
-At least 5 years of experience working as a technical expert in crisis response, emergency preparedness, or related field is required.
-Demonstrated familiarity with the health and emergency response systems in Gaza, especially with the NGOs, CBOs, and Hospitals that provide emergency assistance.
-Prior work experience in the Health Care System in is highly desirable.
-Strong verbal and written English communication skills required. Arabic preferred.
-Based in Gaza, with frequent travel to project sites
