Emergency Response Project Manager (Local Staff Position)
SOS Children’s Villages International (SOS CVI) is a dynamic social development organisation active in over 132 countries worldwide, working to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of orphaned and vulnerable children. It operates through a federation network of National Associations (NAs) across the globe, working in the areas of child development and emergency response.
SOS CVI is currently engaged in emergency response programs in the Balkans, the Philippines, Central African Republic, Syria and Lebanon amongst others, alleviating the suffering and ensuring the development of vulnerable children and their care-givers.
The SOS National Association Palestine is currently starting-up Emergency Response Operations in Gaza and we are currently seeking to appoint an Emergency Response Project Manager to implement and manage a one million euro Interim Alternative Care Project for Unaccompanied and Separated children (UASC) in Gaza.
The Emergency Response Project Manager reports directly to the In-Country Emergency Response Programme Coordinator based in Gaza.
S/he is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation and management of an Interim Alternative Care Centre. S/he will be responsible for ensuring quality care for up to 100 children in the Centre and quality services in the Child Friendly Space for non-residents. S/he will manage and lead a team of up to 30 co-workers and ensure the smooth running of Centre activities. The successful candidate will ideally have experience of child protection and a background in social work and development in Gaza, with strong team management and communication skills.
This position is based in Gaza, with some international travel expected.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
-Aligning project activities and budget spending to the project proposal;
-Preparing donor reports;
-Recruiting, managing and building the capacity of a diverse team of social workers, case workers and educators;
-Overseeing financial management and control of project spending;
-Preparing monthly financial and situation reports;
-Leading teams conduct needs assessments, rapid onsite assessments and exploration missions in the field;
-Ensuring SOS CVI internal procedures and international standards are adhered to in all areas of operations, including SPHERE standards and the SOS CVI internal child protection policy;
-As security responsible in the Centre, ensuring the safety and security of team members as well as material and assets;
-Ensuring adherence to admission and referral criteria;
-Ensuring the well-being of beneficiaries in the Centre.
Experience:
-Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Project Manager with an NGO/association, and/or experience managing a Residential-Based Care Centre or similar;
-Fluency in English and Arabic essential;
-Experience of child protection;
-Experience managing a team essential.
