Employment Officer
Job Title: Employment Officer(1) to support the employment of disadvantaged youth in the Women’s Training Program.
Duration of Job: 24 months
Closing Date: December 16th, 2012

Background Summary:
The East Jerusalem YMCA /Women’s Training Program is partnering with Y-Care international in the implementation of a project on “Empowering Young Women to Increase their Economic Opportunities and Participation in Decision making in 6 villages of Ramallah and Salfit Districts”. This project is for three years from February 2012 to January 2015, and is funded by the European Commission (EC). One of the project’s aims is to increase the economic resilience of long-term unemployed people, particularly young women.
Environment:
-Out of hours work and travel, sometimes at short notice to difficult locations.
-The position is based at the WTC Office in the West Bank
-Perform other duties as instructed by the Director of the program
Overall Responsibilities:
The Employment officer main responsibilities
-Collect labour market information for the project beneficiaries regarding job openings, entry and skill requirements and other occupational information.
-Maintain strong connections and develop contracts with businesses and industries concerning current and upcoming job placements and employment opportunities.
-Create contacts between unemployed youth and credit organization and /or organizations that facilitate job opportunities.
-Keep records on targeted youth employment status.
-Prepare and organize career fairs
Discretion to Act:
-Working within the framework of the objectives set for the project by the Director of the WTC department of EJ YMCA, the post holder will take responsibility for his/her own work and for reaching targets set for him/her.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
-University degree in Business administration, Communications, Marketing, or any other related feild.
-Two to four years marketing/communications experience.
-To be familiar with Palestinian job market.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal & written skills)
-Excellent Microsoft Office skills
-Demonstrated ability to work with teams on complex issues in an evolving environment.
