Background
Sustainable Change for Development is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 2019 by Palestinian civil society activists committed to paving the road for democracy, development, and peace for the State of Palestine. SCD engages in a series of interventions that can establish a mutual understanding to work together and find a sustainable path to a productive and healthy environment for effective state-building.
The aim of SCD is to promote and enhance democratic values, support ‘state-building readiness’, engage in environmental interventions, build various capacities of the Palestinian society, empower youth, women, and a culture of peace, and act as a catalyst for non-violent communication within the Palestinian society and among its stakeholders. Furthermore, SCD aims to strengthen Palestinian grassroots movements and help them fulfill their social and political aspirations.
Context
SCD strives to maintain its position in delivering quality and innovative actions that contribute to sustaining the environmental resources and related ecosystem, build local human capacity, and contribute to building effective civil society in order to achieve water and environment justice and achieve sustainable and integrated management of water resources and environment for all Palestinian people as one of the global goals for sustainable development.
Scope of Work
SCD is seeking to improve the efficiency of water use and provide a sustainable environment for the Palestinian community. In order to achieve that The SCD is considering the recruitment of a qualified Water and Environment Manager who will contribute to the successful implementation of the project on the environmental and social aspects.
The candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Actively manages SCD project scope.
- Coordination work efforts and supervises overall environmental projects.
- Performs technical discipline tasks.
- Provides support for data processing/data management tasks across the projects.
- Planning, managing, and coordinating the various project activities.
- Prepare, or as appropriate supervise the preparation of, brief monthly reports and comprehensive quarterly reports on work progress.
- Ensure that the Senior Admin & Finance Specialist is provided with the necessary information to perform his/her duties.
- Ensure that the fieldwork complies with project work plans and timeframe.

Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in water engineering, Business administration, economics, or another relevant field.
- 15 years of experience in the water and environment sector including projects management, and capacity-building projects.
- understanding and working knowledge of applicable local regulations strategies and policies especially in the environment and water sectors.
- Familiarity with water services at the Municipalities and water utility.
- Familiarity with public bidding procedures.
- Good management skills, particularly workshop organizing, and moderation, communication skills as well as the ability to work in a team.
- Leadership and management of the project team.
- proactively managing the projects including Budgeting and contractual obligation.
- Adept at creative problem-solving skills to work autonomously, and a genuine interest in continual learning and improvement.
- Strong oral and written communication skills (both Arabic and English).
