Environmental Scientist
The Hanns Seidel Foundation (Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung) is an independent German foundation, headquartered in Munich. The foundation implements projects for supporting and empowering the civil society at the community, local and regional levels. Currently it is supporting activities for the development of Nature Parks and Ecotourism in Palestine funded by the European Union.
Main Task: Writing a position paper on the capabilities of the Palestinian stakeholders in wildlife conservation and natural parks management.
Required Skills and Experiences:
(S)he will need to be environmental scientist with background in nature conservation / biology / ecology and knowledge about environmental policy and/or position papers, who possesses a vast experience in conceptualizing governmental policies in an Arab state. The expert will therefore have a strong background in public policy and in environmental protection.
- Knowledge in nature conservation of an Arab country.
- Experience in natural park policy or management of public institutions.
- Fluent in Arabic and English
- Experience in writing scientific contributions / Consulting
- Knowledge in international nature conservation standards.
Responsibility
Writing the policy paper will be based on the results and findings of master plans as well as specific TOR. The expert will need to conduct stakeholder interviews and base the findings on the latest scientific literature on the topic. Additionally, close cooperation with the project manager and the coordinator of HSF will be necessary. The policy paper will be between 10000 and 12000 words in English language.
Deliverables Deadline:
The final version of the position paper should be submitted by the mid of June 2016.
