Position Details

• Position: Environmentalist / Agricultural Engineer
• Employer: Applied Research Institute - Jerusalem (ARIJ)
• Location: ARIJ Headquarters, Bethlehem
• Employment Type: Full-time
• Duration: One year, renewed annually based on performance and availability of funding.
• Reporting to: Sustainable Agriculture Program Director.

Responsibilities & Duties

The Environmentalist/Agricultural Engineer will contribute to ARIJ’s projects aimed at agricultural resilience, climate adaptation, and sustainable resource management through effective implementation, monitoring, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Field Implementation

• Oversee field activities promoting climate-smart and resource-efficient practices.
• Supervise data collection, analysis, and resolution of technical issues.
• Coordinate closely with project staff and field teams.

1. Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)

• Track project progress using ARIJ’s M&E frameworks.
• Conduct assessments, focus groups, and analyze data.
• Evaluate project impacts (e.g., water savings, yield improvements) and recommend adaptive strategies.

1. Reporting & Communication

• Draft professional reports (monthly, quarterly, and final) in English.
• Prepare case studies, success stories, and policy briefs.
• Liaise with stakeholders (e.g., Ministry of Agriculture, cooperatives) to share findings and foster cooperation.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

• Education: Bachelor’s / Master’s in Environmental Science, Agricultural Engineering, or any related fields.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years in:
• Field-based agricultural/environmental projects (e.g., climate-smart agriculture, resource management, Green Practices).
• M&E frameworks and impact assessments.
• Skills: Strong data analysis (Excel, SPSS); excellent reporting skills in English; fluent in Arabic.
• Valid driving license.

Working Conditions

• Frequent travel (50%+) to field locations.
