ETAP Power System Modelling Trainer
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
USAID’s Palestinian Energy Project (PEP) aims to advance the Palestinian energy sector to support affordable and sustainable energy independence in the West Bank and Gaza. It seeks to improve the Palestinian Authority’s efforts to modernize and diversify the Palestinian electricity sector. It focuses on improving access to and reliability of electrical services by strategically incorporating renewable energy, which will increase the Palestinian Authority’s control of its electrical supply and improve affordability over time.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of PEP’s Component 1.6 activities, the trainer will play a key role in building the Palestinian Authority (PA) energy sector capacity to support increased clean energy generation and grid integration through the provision of training in power system modelling using ETAP software.
The ETAP Power system-modelling trainer will report to the Senior Renewable Energy Advisor.
The trainer will build the capacity of the engineers working at the electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) and Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority (PENRA) in the power system modelling and analysis field. The trainer will provide training to advance the skills of these engineers to finally enable them perform renewable energy impact analysis on their own electric grids.
The key responsibilities of the trainer are:
- Agree on a training implementation plan with guidance from the senior RE advisor.
- Develop a training manual in coordination with senior RE advisor. The training manual should cover the following topics:
- Power System Modelling
- Load Flow Study, Evaluation & Result Analyzer
- Basics of Short Circuit Study
- Protective Device Coordination / Selectivity
- Introduction to Harmonics
- Introduction to Transients
- System Stability Studies Stability Studies
- Electric grid System & Renewable Energy
- Implement a 9-day training course in power system modelling using ETAP software
- Perform trainee performance evaluation
- Perform a pre-training power system modelling and analysis level test and a post training test in accordance with the topics mentioned above
- Provide the necessary follow up and checking of the trainees skills development to ensure the enhancement of the abilities of the trainees to use ETAP software to perform power system modelling and analysis and specify the impact of solar and wind energy projects on the electric grid
- Use a suitable training method to train the attendees. This includes, but not limited to, the use of printed text of all topics, lectures, exercise & homework manual to explain the ideas, use laser pointer, white board & marker pen, audio-Video equipment, projector and hands on training using ETAP software
- A comprehensive end all training report including the final evaluation of trainees and the attendance of the participants as per the PEP attendance form
ILLUSTRATIVE DELIVERABLES
The ETAP Power System Modelling Trainer will produce the following:
- Provide the training material, including tests and obtain approval by PEP
- Training implementation plan and obtain approval by PEP
- Completion of the 9 days training of Power System Analysis for 13 trainees
- A comprehensive end all training report including the final evaluation of trainees and the attendance of the participants as per the PEP attendance form
