Background:
PWWSD is implementing the project “Building Resilience: Empowering Women and Girls in Conflict-Affected Areas,” funded by FCDO-UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office. As part of the project’s focus on mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), PWWSD will deliver “helping the helpers” self-care sessions to female-led protection committee members and PWWSD counselors, ensuring the well-being of frontline workers and volunteers.
The external supervisor will lead monthly self-care sessions designed to support the project’s team, frontline workers from local communities, and new graduates volunteering at PWWSD in the humanities field.
Objective:
The external supervisor will be responsible for delivering 5 hours of self-care sessions each month to help alleviate stress, prevent burnout, and strengthen resilience among project personnel and volunteers. These sessions aim to enhance the overall mental health of the participants, ensuring that they are better equipped to provide effective support in their roles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Deliver Self-Care Sessions:
- Develop a tailored self-care program focusing on MHPSS techniques suitable for humanitarian workers.
- Conduct monthly 5-hour self-care sessions for female-led protection committee members, PWWSD counselors, and volunteers.
- Provide practical tools and techniques to enhance emotional resilience, manage stress, and prevent burnout.
- Supervision and Support:
- Offer ongoing guidance to the project’s team, especially those in direct contact with vulnerable populations.
- Act as a resource for participants to discuss challenges related to their work and emotional well-being.
- Monitoring and Feedback:
- Assess the impact of the self-care sessions on participants’ mental health and well-being.
- Provide monthly reports to the Project Manager (Rana Khalil) with observations, feedback, and any suggested adjustments to the program.
- Collaboration with PWWSD:
- Work closely with PWWSD’s internal team to ensure the sessions align with the organization’s overall objectives.
- Coordinate with other mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) focal points where necessary.

Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in MHPSS, staff care, or supervision of humanitarian personnel.
- Proven experience in delivering self-care or similar mental health support programs for frontline workers.
- Strong communication skills and ability to create a safe, supportive environment for participants.
- Fluency in Arabic and familiarity with the Palestinian context.
Deliverables:
- Monthly 5-hour self-care sessions.
- Monthly reports detailing session outcomes, feedback from participants, and recommendations for improvements.
