Fair Trade Corner Attendant
From Grove to Market –Making the olive market work for subsistence and small-scale farmers in
the occupied Palestinian territories
Within the framework of the project entitled “From Grove to Market” which is sponsored by OXFAM
GB, and implemented by Bethlehem University’s Fair Trade Development Center (FTDC) of the
Institute for Community Partnership, Applied Research Institute Jerusalem (ARIJ), The Economic
and Social Development Center of Palestine (ESDC), Business Women Forum (BWF) and Oxfam GB that aims at enabling small and medium scale farmers from vulnerable and poor households in the West Bank to have fair and equitable access to commercial markets within a conducive institutional and policy environment, resulting in increased food and income security and greater resilience to, and ability to respond to, shocks and disasters.
The project seeks to work to enhance awareness of fair trade and introduce fairly produced commodities to the Palestinian public. The program is in the process of recruiting a part timer
Fair Trade Corner Attendant
to manage the fair trade corner.
Duration of Assignment: 3 months (renewable)
Tasks and Duties:
-The Fair Trade Corner Attendant will be reporting directly to the Project Manager and will be
responsible for the following:
-In charge of inventory control in the corner;
-Communications with producers’ organizations;
-Networking with potential outlets including supermarkets, hotels, restaurants and gift shops;
-In charge of following up on purchase requests from different customer;
-Collect feedback on quality of production and suggestions on the presentation of products;
-Connects with national and international organizations to promote the products of the fair trade
corner;
-Manages the Fair Trade Corner website and follows on online requests. Basic Graphic design
skills is an asset.
Qualifications:
-The fair Trade corner attendant shall meet the following requirements:
-BA in Business Administration, marketing, accounting or any related field;
-Minimum of two years experience in marketing;
-Good communication skills;
-Good knowledge of the Palestinian areas;
-Valid driving license
