Female Obstetrician Gynaecologist
MSF Spain is looking for a Female Obstetrician Gynaecologist in Gaza to implement gynecological and obstetrician procedures, performing any other prior treatment required, during or immediately after a woman has given birth in order to improve women’s reproductive health and to reduce pregnancy, delivery and neonatology risks. This will be done in accordance with MSF policies, protocols and universal hygiene standards and in multidisciplinary collaboration with other medical doctors and midwife services.
Accountabilities
• Provide health care related to gynecology and obstetrics to patients, including prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
• Ensure the implementation of MSF clinical policies, tools, guidelines and protocols related to gynecology and obstetrics in order to minimize clinical risk and to extend best reproductive practices.
• In collaboration with other medical colleagues, carry out the collection of quantitative gynecological data and ensure exhaustive use of management tools in order to improve gynecological results and to share knowledge among other field specialists.
• Plan and supervise the HR associated processes (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, development and internal/external communication) of the gynecological staff in order to ensure both an efficient sizing and the amount of knowledge required, to improve people’s capabilities and their active participation in influencing the targeted population using preventive practices. This will be done in close coordination with the HR department.
• Supervise the maintenance and running of the gynecological equipment and drug consumption, preparing new orders when required and ensuring its rational use as well as that pharmacy stock levels are permanently updated and available. MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
1. Clinical Care Responsibilities
Antenatal Care: Conduct regular prenatal visits, including assessments of maternal and fetal health. Screen for complications that may arise or be exacerbated by the stress of displacement (e.g., preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, infections).
Postnatal Care: Conduct follow-up examinations for new mothers to address any complications arising after delivery, including infections, mental health concerns, and breastfeeding support, particularly for mothers in challenging environments.
Family Planning: Offer counseling and services related to various family planning options, considering cultural sensitivities and logistical constraints. Emphasize options that can be realistically sustained in a crisis context.
Preconceptional Care: Provide guidance and medical support for women planning pregnancies, including counseling on folic acid supplementation, managing chronic health conditions, and addressing malnutrition, which may be more common among displaced populations.
Gynecological Conditions: Diagnose and manage common gynecological issues such as infections, menstrual disorders, and various gynecological conditions particularly in diplacment context.
Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Care: Offer empathetic and confidential support to survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. This includes physical and psychological assessments, referrals to mental health professionals, and necessary follow-ups. Given the high rates of displacement and instability, cases of SGBV may be more prevalent, requiring sensitive handling.
2. Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Teams
Coordinate with Midwives, Nurses, and Other Healthcare Providers: Work closely with midwives, general practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to establish clear referral criteria and streamline the process of referrals to specialized care.
Training and Mentorship: Mentor midwives and junior healthcare providers, especially on managing obstetric emergencies and SGBV care, adapting to the limited resources and high patient volume. Furthermore, Participate in team meetings and case discussions to ensure coordinated and effective patient management.
Mental Health Support for Women: Given the traumatic context of ongoing conflict and displacement, recognize signs of stress, anxiety, or depression in patients. Facilitate referrals to mental health services and provide compassionate care to address the psychological aspects of their health concerns.
3. Documentation and Reporting
Ensure Accurate Data Collection: Fill the medical sheets in accurate way for different services as required from the project including antenatal, postnatal, family palnning and gynecological care data.
Report Health Trends and Emergencies: Track and report emerging health trends, such as increases in certain infections or complications, and provide data to inform responses and supply needs within the clinic.
4. Adherence to Protocols and Cultural Sensitivity
Ensure Protocol Compliance: Follow established MSF protocols for clinical care, infection control, and SGBV handling while adapting practices to the limitations of the environment.
Culturally Sensitive Care: Provide respectful care that aligns with local cultural and religious norms, particularly regarding reproductive health and SGBV cases.

Experience
• Essential at least 2 years of certified work experience in Gynecology
• Desirable previous experience with MSF or other NGO’s in developing countries
