Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an independent medical humanitarian aid organization committed to two objectives: providing medical aid whenever needed, regardless of race, religion, politics or gender, and raising awareness of the plight of the people it helps. MSF works in more than 70 countries around the world.

MSF –Spain is currently implementing a psychological support programme with medical and social components. The aim is to provide short-term psychotherapy to people affected by violence due to the ongoing conflict.

MSF-Spain is currently seeking to hire a Field Communication Officer based in Jerusalem, with frequent travel throughout the West Bank. This position is a short term contract to cover for a maternity leave. This position will commence at the beginning of December 2017.

Main activities:

-Responsible for MSF operational communication at field level
-Build MSF visibility, acceptance and leverage inside the country
-Production of communications materials, including print, digital and video material.
-Implement the communication strategy at field level under the supervision of the Head of Mission and with the support of the Communication Advisor in Amman.

Requirements:

-University degree in Journalism, Communications, Humanitarian Affairs, or a related field
-Previous work experience in communications, journalism or public relations.
-Skills in social media use and good knowledge of “traditional” media environment.
-Arabic and English essential (both written and spoken). Hebrew desirable.
-Essential computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential.
-Essential to have local knowledge and awareness of media and social media.

Additional qualities desired:

-Work experience in content production (articles, press releases, etc.)
-Previous experience with MSF or other NGOs in developing countries.
-Experience with organisations working in the field of mental health.
-Experience working on context analysi, with a focus on actors in Palestine.
