MSF Spain is looking for a Field Communication Officer in Gaza to Contributes to the implementation of the operational communication strategy in the mission according to MSF standards. Work to help build MSF visibility, acceptance and leverage inside the country. Focuses on media monitoring, local/international media management and content creation.

Accountabilities
a) Content Production
• The FCO is responsible for the content collection in Gaza and documents relevant information for MSF communications in Gaza. The FCO collects video, photo and audio materials relevant to MSF activities and patients, conducts interviews with MSF staff, patients and people impacted by the war, while ensuring MSF guidelines are respected.
• In collaboration with the FCO in Jerusalem and West Bank, the Field Communications Officer is responsible for the conceptualization of content produced and works with MSF comms teams on editing and finalizing products, including the translations.
a) Media Management
• Under the supervision of the Field Communications Manager (FCM), the FCO establishes and maintains regular relations with key local media contacts (journalists, bloggers, photographers, and cameramen).
• He/she will support the MSF teams with facilitation of media in Gaza on MSF activities, in close collaboration with the FCO in Jerusalem.
• He/she will support the Field Communications team with fact checking and information gathering of urgent communications and critical incidents. He/she provides media training for MSF spokespeople in Gaza. b) Media Alert
• The FCO monitors local media and flags significant articles, trends, news or reports of importance for the Field Communications Manager (FCM).
• Identify opportunities for media to cover MSF activities and topics related to MSF work in Gaza.
• He/she provides guidance on how to deal with local media at time of crisis.
• f) Reporting
• The FCO will participate in communication data-collection and reporting as required.
• The FCO will provide updates about the developments in Gaza, mainly the impact on MSF activities.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
The position is intersectional, meaning that the FCO will be working with a variety of teams and interlocutors at MSF. He/she will have a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
This position is focused on media and social media monitoring, as well as content production and diffusion, mostly:
a) Media and social media monitoring
• The FCO monitors local media and social media, and flags MSF mentions and significant articles, trends, news or reports of importance for MSF or on the context to Head(s) of Mission and Field Communications Manager (FCM).
• He/she produces strategic reports on the local media landscape and social media trends (key media, audience numbers, political affiliation, ownership, freedom of speech, use of social media) and regularly reports on new developments. [FJ1]
• Under the supervision of the FCM, the FCO establishes and maintains regular relations with key local media contacts (journalists, bloggers, photographers, and cameramen), handles local media requests and organizes events for local media when necessary (press conference, press briefing…).
b) Content Production and diffusion
• He/she produces, edits, and curates content for MSF communication channels, including social media, and for international and local media.
• In particular, he/she adapts/translates communications materials to target local audiences and helps identify the right communications tools to disseminate information and production.

Education
Essential: degree in Journalism, Communications, Audio-visual or related university degree.
Experience
Essential: previous working experience of at least two years in communications,
journalism or public relations in the country.
Essential: previous working experience in producing audio-visual material.
Desirable: Previous experience working for local or international organization.
Previous experience in managing social media platforms is an asset.
Languages
Proficiency in mission language(s) essential (mostly English). Excellent command of local languages in the mission country. Excellent writing skills in Arabic and English
Knowledge
Thorough knowledge of traditional media and good understanding of social
media
Good knowledge in producing content/managing social media channels.
Good networking and media relations skills
Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet),
Knowledge of graphic design and video editing is an asset.
Outgoing personality, good balance between initiative and working in a team.
Availability to visit MSF projects in Gaza when security allows
Understanding of and commitment to the Médecins Sans Frontières Charter
4-months contract with the possibility of extension
