Background on CISS

CISS - Cooperazione Internazionale Sud Sud, is an Italian Non-Governmental Organization founded in Palermo in 1985, officially recognized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an organization eligible to promote and implement cooperation projects in developing Countries (law 1989/128/3638/O, 6th December 1989). CISS is an NGO of solidarity and international cooperation, whose main purpose is to intervene in favor of the most vulnerable populations in various geographical and socio-economic contexts. CISS has been committed to supporting the Palestinian population since 1988, and has implemented various projects including the management and improvement of water resources, mental health and child protection, preservation of natural and cultural heritage, integrated agricultural development, gender and women empowerment, psychosocial programs, capacity building for community-based organizations, and support for the most vulnerable groups in East Jerusalem and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

Job Description

Contract duration: 6 months (including two months of probation period)
Starting Date: 26th May, 2023

A) Duties

The successful candidate will be under the immediate supervision of the Gaza Head of Base, where he/she must achieve the duties of this position, which are as follows:

• Coordinate field-based interventions in all implementation sites and keep monitoring the implementation according to the approved work plans.
• Provide support and technical assistance to the project team in the field.
• Follow up the process of documenting and archiving the whole papers, documents, and records that came from the field.
• Regular visits to the field to make sure that activities are going smoothly and correctly.
• Prepare training materials and full training packages for different topics related to protection and WASH themes, such as presentations, summaries, videos, etc., with support from the project manager and Head of Base.
• Lead and arrange for the implementation of WASH awareness sessions.
• Produce timely internal reporting.
• Ensure participation of the community in all project phases through appropriate mechanisms.
• Ensure appropriate coordination with other actors and partners to avoid overlapping activities.

B) Responsibilities

• Implementation of field-based interventions in all project sites and keep monitoring the activities according to the approved timetable.
• Provide support in improving CISS feedback and complaint system.
• Achieving the objectives of the organization, whether in the short term or the long term.
• Ensure that premises, assets, and communication methods are used effectively.
• Utilizing logistics information technology to improve procedures.
• Any other detailed tasks that fall within the scope of work and job description.

• At least a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or any related field.
• At least 3 years of work experience in cooperation and civil society work with Non-governmental organizations. Previous experience with Italian INGOs is an added value
• Previous experience in WASH and Child Protection is preferable
• Computer skills including the ability to operate Microsoft Office programs.
• Excellent speaking and writing communication skills in English and Arabic.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills including ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with team members.
• Very organized and structured.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Good attitude and willingness to improve skills and knowledge.
  
• Knowledge in Italian Language is an asset.
