Job Title: Finance Assistant  
Contract: Special Service Agreement (SSA)
Duration: 3 Months (possible extension)
Location: Jerusalem Office 
Supervision received: The Finance Assistant reports to a WFP Finance and Admin Officer or a Senior Finance Assistant.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Within delegated authority, the Finance Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: (These duties are generic and thus are not all-inclusive nor are all duties carried out by all Finance Assistants)
-Initiate payment processing according to WFP financial rules and regulations;
-Prepare bank reconciliations, review locally recoverable items, Imprest summaries and funding sheet summaries;
-Maintain proper control over various financial records such as commitments and expenditures against budgeted amounts; initiate actions related to the following; general financial information, and travel payments, and procurement transactions;
-Verify vendor claims for accuracy and conformance with WFP finance rules and regulations; perform claim verifications against documentation to ensure that purchases/services are properly authorized and that the goods have been received or services rendered; and ensure timely recording and processing of vendor invoices in the Programme’s information system;
-Prepare necessary receipt and journal vouchers;
-Verify VAT claims and maintain proper filling.
-Follow up on the new EMOP project (Voucher distribution system).
-Assist in the preparation of budget, accounting, financial reports, statistical reports and other reports as required;
-Operate a variety of office equipment such as photocopier, facsimile, printer, and maintain supplies; produce photocopies of materials as required and collate pages when necessary.
-Maintain proper filing system.
-Perform other related duties as required

Expected Results:
-Produces organised, accurate and well documented records conforming to required format with well analysed data. May provide guidance on office practices to staff in lower grades.

-Ability to review a variety of data, identify and adjust data discrepancies. Identify and resolve operational problems. Ability to communicate moderately complex matters clearly and

Qualifications & Experience:

Education:
Secondary school education, candidates having university degree in related area (Finance, Economic...) will be given priority.

Experience:
At least three years of progressively responsible clerical work experience in general administrative work including at least one year in the field of finance, accounting, budget, audit or other related field.

Knowledge:
Experience utilising computers, including word processing, spreadsheet and other WFP standard software packages and systems. General knowledge of UN system financial policies, rules, regulations and procedures.

Language:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different.
