Job Description
Expanded and Sustained Access to Financial Services (ESAF) Program
Position: Finance Assistant
Location: Ramallah
Period of employment: 11 months
Level of effort: 60% of full time
The Academy for Educational Development seeks candidates for the position of Finance Assistant to be based in Ramallah for the USAID funded initiative entitled “Expanded and Sustained Access to
Financial Services Program/ESAF”
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant will provide support in the management of daily financial transactions of the ESAF Program
Essential Job Functions:
-In particular, the Finance Assistant is responsible for the following tasks:
-Preparing the documentation of requests for payment, including checks for the signature, and issuing advance and expenditure vouchers
-Preparing receipts for all program income, and records income accordingly.
-ensuring that sufficient and accurate supporting documents are attached to all payment.
-Assisting the Finance Manager in the preparation of the monthly payments of remuneration to all ESAF staff in West Bank
-Assisting the finance manager to enter all vouchers into the computerized ledgers and journals of the ESAF ensuring that receipts and expenditures are recorded properly on program accounts.
-Ensuring timely preparation of interim and final VAT reports to USAID.
-Ensuring the Finance Department of ESAF is well-organized and that files and documentation is kept complete and ordered in accordance with the Manual and the ESAF filing system
-Finance Audit: Work with the finance Manager to coordinate and ensure successful completion
of the finance audit process and ensure that any management letter recommendations are carried out ASAP
-Finance assistant responsible for photocopying ESAF monthly imprest and the Vat report

Education: BA in accounting, Business Administration ,or related field.
Required Experience: At least 1 year experience in accounting and book keeping, preferably in
NGO environment, or USAID projects.
Knowledge: Internet and MS office applications (EXCEL, WORD), and preferably knowledge of
QuickBooks accounting system.
