Financial Officer

Overview:
National Democratic Institute - NDI is a non-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental organization that works in partnership around the world to strengthen and safeguard democratic institutions, processes, norms and values to secure a better quality of life for all. NDI has been present in the Palestinian Territories since 1994, working with Palestinian political parties, civil society organizations, activists, universities, and youth on a variety of issues including advocacy campaigns, message development, political outreach, and the inclusion of women and youth in the political process and decision-making.
NDI West Bank & Gaza is seeking a full-time Financial Officer to provide assistance to the program under the close supervision of the Financial Manager. This position will be based in Ramallah.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all financial, accounting, and reporting activities comply with policies, under the supervisor of the financial Manager.
- Providing support internal and external audits Manage and maintain financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems
- The financial officer and regional coordinators, as well NDI staff, will work in close cooperation when dealing with financial matters
- Assist with the integration of field office accounting systems into HQ accounting.
- Keep accurate records for all daily transactions.
- Prepare balance sheets and process Invoices.
- Update internal systems with financial data.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Reconcile bank statements.
- Track bank deposits and payments.

Qualifications/Person Specification:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or other related degree.
- 3-5 years office experience in finance role.
- Experience creating financial statements and reports.
- Understanding of budgeting, cash flow, and financial risk management.
- Knowledge of fiscal regulations and compliance, particularly for international donors (including USAID).
- Comfortable learning and working with new software/databases.
- Willingness to learn and open to new ideas.
- Expert with Microsoft Excel, financial reporting software.
- Fluency in Arabic and English (an understanding of Hebrew a plus).
- Ability to freely travel within the West Bank
