One Year Fixed - term ,Gaza
At Oxfam, we’re committed to ending poverty and suffering. That’s why in Gaza we’re providing food, water and healthcare to those who need it most. But it’s not just a short-term operation and, taking charge of food security, you’ll help communities work together to break free from poverty.
The role
Working closely with the Programme Manager, you’ll plan and lead our food security programmes in Gaza, integrating projects and making sure everyone’s pulling in the same direction. And factoring in your specialist knowledge of food and income security, you’ll lead the way as we escalate our Urban Voucher Programme, spotting opportunities to improve implementation, synergies and linkages to broader poverty reduction programming. You’ll also work with our partners, building their abilities and getting even more out of our relationships with them. It’s a wide-ranging role, and as well as operating on a strategic level, you’ll play a part in day-to-day practicalities like recruitment, monitoring programme quality and progress, budgeting and producing reports in line with donor requirements.
What we’re looking for
You’ll have a post-graduate qualification plus a solid background in managing food security in an urban setting to back it up. Specialist knowledge of vulnerability, cash and voucher programming is vital too. And because it’s a volatile situation, you’ll need to look at food security, input distribution and livelihood support in terms of emergency response, making sure we’re prepared should the worst happen. You’ll also be using your top-notch monitoring and evaluation skills to analyse complex local and national environments, altering strategic plans accordingly. Working in this difficult environment calls for excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both to inspire and develop your team and deal with different cultural contexts. With this in mind, Arabic language skills would be an advantage, though it’s more important that you’re sensitive to gender and diversity, integrating them into our work at every level.
About Oxfam
A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There’s enough wealth in this world to go around. It’s not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It’s unjustifiable. It’s not just their problem. It’s ours too. And with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. Thousands of people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we’re looking for yours.
