General Objectives:
In the framework of food security and livelihoods programming to assist vulnerable households in the Gaza strip, The goal is to comprehensively address the immediate needs and long-term well-being and enhance resilience of the impacted population. The FSL Assistant will support the Food Security and Livelihood Department in various aspects of project execution, including data collection and registration, coordination of fieldwork activities, and monitoring and evaluation efforts. The role will involve active participation in ensuring adherence to project objectives, standards, and security protocols while fostering effective communication and collaboration across internal teams and external stakeholders. Specifically, the FSL Assistant will focus on supporting interventions aimed at enhancing the socio-economic status of affected individuals in Deir Al Balah. This includes supervising the implementation of FSL emergency initiatives that support vulnerable communities through rapid emergency responses, cash-based interventions, rehabilitation of agricultural sector, and economic empowerment initiatives.
The Food Security and Livelihood Assistant (FSL Assistant) will collaborate fully with the area focal point in Deir Al Balah, logistics, (remote) Heads of Projects and Program Manager in the identification of appropriate new interventions, experiences capitalization and department strategy.
The candidate will be responsible on the following objectives:
Objective 1: Efficient Data Collection and Registration Management of FSL and emergency activities.
- Conduct data collection and registration of IDPs as relevant.
- Lead data collection based on the program tools (project application, baseline, endline, etc.)
- Ensure the correction of the data collected in the field and verify it with the required supportive documents.
- Ensure the availability of any supportive document to complete the application for each beneficiary.
- Lead data collection activities required for any need assessment in agricultural field, livestock, and IGAs projects.
- Ensure proper data entry using KOBO platform or excel.
- Participate in collecting BOQs from the farmers, livestock farmers, and IGAs owners.
- Participate in the correction of data that is already in the database at AAH archiving and update files of existing beneficiaries and make any corrections needed.
- Ensure, promote, and maintain confidentiality regarding all information registered.
- Supervise daily workers and field workers hired to ensure data collection process.
- Assist in planning and coordinating fieldwork according to the project's schedule and objectives.
- Facilitate communication between field workers and project officers, reporting on activity progress and challenges encountered.
Objective 2: Support planning and implementation of FSL and emergency activities.
- Assist in the preparation of project documents and activity reports.
- Monitor field activities to ensure compliance with project plans and standards, reporting any issues directly to project officers.
- Follow up field activities upon priorities to report on quality and identified bottlenecks reporting directly to project officers.
- Compile information received and ensured data entry or reporting as relevant on the data collected.
- Assist in providing technical expertise and management for food security, agricultural, and livelihood-related activities, including cash-based interventions.
- Aid in the development of activity plans in coordination with relevant team members.
- Assist in preparing project documents such as announcements, SOPs, beneficiary applications, etc.
- Support in the beneficiary selection process and maintain an up-to-date beneficiary database.
- Assist in coordinating field-level activities and representation with stakeholders.
- Participate in field visits, providing technical support and proposing improvements.
- Help in the development and execution of input and aid distribution plans.
- Assist in gathering and updating contextual information related to food security.
- Aid in monitoring local market dynamics and commodity prices.
- Assist in identifying potential risks and challenges and contribute to developing mitigation strategies.
- Support the integration of gender-responsive, protection, and socially inclusive approaches.
Objective 3: Collaboration with the logistics and finance department:
- Collaborate with the logistics department to ensure timely procurement and delivery of project inputs.
- Assist in collecting necessary documents for procurement actions.
- Support in providing technical specifications for project-related goods and services.
- Aid in providing inputs for project budgets, procurement plans, and financial forecasts.
- Assist in facilitating the processing of payments to vendors and contractors.
Objective 4: Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Coordinate with the MEAL department to implement and validate the selection process of beneficiaries and geographic areas.
- Assist in monitoring and supervising field activities.
- Help in maintaining an up-to-date beneficiary database.
- Participate in documenting project learning and impact case stories.
- Facilitate relevant project assessments and evaluations.
- Participate in regular project reviews and monitoring and evaluation missions.
Objective 5: Human Resources & Team Management.
- Participate in the recruitment process for field and daily workers.
- Validate action plans for field and daily workers.
- Identify training needs and communicate them to the Head of the Project.
- Assist in organizing induction sessions for newly hired staff.
- Support knowledge transfer within the FSL department.
Objective 6: Reporting and Learning
- Report field activities to the Head of Project.
- Participate in the preparation of monthly Activity Progress Reports.
- Assist in the preparation and collection of data for communication and advocacy purposes.
- Conduct necessary data collection in collaboration with the MEAL department.
Objective 7: Collaboration in security measures.
- Transmits in a timely manner all the necessary and complete information to guarantee safety in the areas of action.

Advanced university degree in disciplines relevant to food security or any relevant field.
Knowledge of program implementation, including preparation and monitoring of field activities.
Knowledge of gender and protection mainstreaming.
Knowledge of FSL interventions is a plus.
Three years of relevant experience in the field of food security and livelihoods.
Previous experience in emergencies, including large-scale distribution, planning it and executing it.
Minimum 3 years of directly proven experience in NGO sector.
Experience in community-led initiatives is a plus.
Experience as AAH daily worker is a plus.
Knowledge in humanitarian/emergency and/or development programming is a plus.
Strong communication skills both verbal and in writing.
Ability to promote good working relationships among colleagues, supervisors, and supervisees.
Analytical and creative thinking abilities with solutions-oriented approach.
Fluency in reading, writing and speaking Arabic and basic English level
Very good knowledge in Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
Valuable prior experience in issues related to the promotion of gender equality or personal commitment to gender equality.
