ActionAid is seeking a qualified person to fill the position of Fundraising and Communications Manager.

Period: for 12 months period, with strict 3 months’ probation period.

Post location: Bethlehem with frequent travels to West Bank and Gaza governorates

Start Date: Immediately

Role overview:

The Fundraising and Communications Manager is responsible for leading the design and implementation of fundraising and communications programming for ActionAid Palestine (AAP), in accordance with AAP’s country strategy and in alignment with the ActionAid International Strategy.

The key responsibilities for this position will be as follows:

  • Development and implementation of AAP fundraising and communications strategies across the organization.
  • Develop and write high quality concept notes/expressions of interest and proposals in collaboration with AAP and partner programme and finance staff, ensuring alignment with ActionAid principles and approaches.
  • Deepen the impact of communication work, identify key priorities, channels, audiences and messages to establish an appropriate public image for ActionAid Palestine, internally and externally, in line with ActionAid International values and culture.
  • Design and facilitate capacity building initiatives/training to strengthen AAP and partner staff ability to effectively and proactively contribute to fundraising and communications.
  • Analyzing AAP’s donor base to recommend strategies for income diversification, researching funding trends and high-value donors, establishing and maintaining a donor database, and building relationships with potential and existing donors through tailored communications and visits
  • Negotiating donor contracts and MOUs with ActionAid affiliates and donors, designing inception workshops for new projects, ensuring compliance with donor mechanisms, maintaining a grant management database, and serving as the focal point for the AA International Contract Management System.
  • Representing and promoting AAP at external meetings with donors, UN, I/NGOs, and other stakeholders, as well as participating in internal meetings and networks within the wider ActionAid federation

Job Requirements

Eligible applicants are required to have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, social sciences, development studies or management. A master’s degree in any relevant social sciences discipline from a recognized institution is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years post qualification experience in position of senior programme management, preferably in the NGO sector.
  • Extensive understanding of fundraising and significant experience of proposal development and grant management using participatory methodologies and approaches
  • Proven track record of securing substantial donations/grants from a range of high value and institutional funding sources
  • The ability to think strategically, to delegate where appropriate, to prioritize competing demands influence a peer group.
  • Experience in developing tailored communications products for different audiences
  • High level exposure to humanitarian and development issues and contexts.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to manage relationships at all levels
  • Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Arabic
  • Excellent organizing skills
