MdM Switzerland, has been working in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) since 1994 in the sector of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), implementing emergency and development interventions, focusing on victim of occupation-related violence, children and detention, suicide prevention and management, strengthen of access to mental health cares at national and community level, and advocacy initiative.
YOUR MISSION
Under the direct supervision of the Project Area Officer and in close coordination with Gaza Field Coordinator and Medical Consultant, the Medical Doctor will organise, implement and monitor the medical activities of the programme that MdM-CH is implementing in Gaza Strip.
- S/he will promote the quality of medical activities, practices and data.
- S/he will directly or indirectly lead/supervise medical teams (MdM-CH or partner).
Main objective:
- Coordinate and manage the medical activities implemented in Gaza by MdM-CH and its local partner
Specific objectives:
- To contribute to implementing medical emergencies interventions
- Contribute to the development of MdM Emergency preparedness and Response Plan (EPREP) in cooperation with MdM technical and coordination teams.
- Ensure the proper use of MdM resources in Palestine.
- Ensure the respect of MdM procedures in Palestine.
The Medical Doctor controls the staff under his/her direct supervision according to the organigram, and participates in the project meetings according to the indications established by the Project Area Officer and Gaza Field Coordinator.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Main responsibilities and tasks of the Medical Doctor can change according to the organization of the work and to the composition of the team.
- Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MdM-CH protocols.
- Responsible for scheduling, developing training tools, and providing the on-the-job/supervision training for the people who benefitted from the training
- Ensure technical meetings with partners are regularly conducted regarding project activities (e.g. trainings, simulations, and workshops), under the supervision of the Project Area Officer
- Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and take care the quality within MdM-CH’s premises and its local partner along with assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
- Lead the community awareness activities within targeted areas, ensuring that awareness topics are relevant to the needs of the communities and are in line with MdM-CH priority topics and develop IEC materials to support community awareness activities
- To conduct field visits to the mobile clinic teams and other PHCCs and ensure that the trainees complete satisfactorily their training course, through an assessment of trainees’ attendance and their performance.
- To participate in the data collection needed for assessments, data analysis, and writing reports.
- Provide program operational reports based on the request of the supervisor.
- Work collaboratively with MHPSS team within MdM-CH and its local partner to ensure better implementation of medical aspects.
- Attend team meetings and to give input and ideas for current and future interventions.

REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in medicine and medico-surgical emergency diploma with experience in
- emergency
- Previous experience at the PHC level
- Previous experience in Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan design and implementation will be an asset.
- At least 2 years of work experience with NGOs
- Capacity to organize and conduct training.
- Good supervision & reporting skills
- Good communication skills.
- Good command of English and Arabic languages (both written and spoken)
- Computer skills (word, excel, PowerPoint, statistics software…)
- Experience in health information management and/or health data collection and analysis will be an asset
CONDITIONS
The position is based in Gaza,
Contract type: fixed term contract
Contract Duration: 6 months renewable, with 3 months’ probation period
Working Hours: Standard office working hours from Sunday to Thursday.
